Connelly & Stasi Lead After Saturday

Tara Connelly and Meghan Stasi lead by two heading into Sunday's final round.

The first round of the Women's International Four-Ball Championship proved to be a gorgeous and very windy day.  Teams faced late morning winds that strengthened heading into the afternoon.  Forty-eight teams of some of the top women amateur golfers from around the country will continue to compete for the coveted Women's International Four-Ball title on Sunday.

After a warm, but extremely windy day at The Wanderers Club in Wellington, Florida, Tara Connelly, of Palm Beach, and Meghan Stasi, of Oakland Park, head into the final round with a two shot cushion in the Championship Division.  Stasi finished strong, birdying two of the last three holes to help their team finish the day with a two under par 70.  Tough and windy conditions got the better of some of the field, but the team of Mary Jane Hiestand, of Naples, and Diane Lang, of Weston, held strong shooting an even par 72. Four teams are tied for third at 73 including, the team of Anna Schultz, of Texas, and Jewell Malick, both of Texas; Alexa Hammer and Taffy Brower, both of Boynton Beach; Alexandra Frazier, of Pennsylvania and Marie Arnoux, of Miami Beach; and also the team of Laura Carson and Maureen Sheehan, both of Illinois.

In the Silver Division First Flight Ashley Crain and Claudia Cenko lead with a gross 73 over team Nancy Jackson and Maria Marino's solid 75.  Beth Sholar and Christine Martin lead the Silver Division Second Flight with a strong round of 76, but are closely followed by Leann Cesario and Debra Wangrund who shot 78.
