86th Women's Amateur Field Set

June 10, 2015

Florida's oldest and most prestigious Women’s Amateur Championship is set to begin this weekend at Coral Creek Club, June 13th to June 17th.  In its 86th year, the Championship is played from approximately 6,000 yards and will host some of the top women amateur golfers in Florida.  Notable past champions include Cristie Kerr, Taffy Brower, and Meghan Stasi.

The format for the five day event begins with 36 holes of gross individual stroke play on Saturday and Sunday.  The field is then cut to the low 32 players who will compete in match play for the Championship.   Round of 32 matches will be played on Monday morning followed by Round of 16 matches Monday afternoon.  Quarterfinal matches commence Tuesday morning with semifinal matches in the afternoon.  The 18-hole Championship match will be played on Wednesday morning.

Out of the 32 players that advanced to match play in 2014, 16 of them will be returning to this year's Championship. Included in that list of 16 are defending champion, Emily Rymer, and runner-up, Charlotte Daughan, both Orlando residents. The field consists of a mixture of juniors, collegiate players, mid-amateurs, and seniors, with the youngest player at 10 years of age and the oldest at 66. Along with Rymer are 2010 and 2012 champion Meghan Stasi and 2007 champion Mary Jane Hiestand. Kendall Griffin, of Sebring, snagged the last spot in the Championship, fresh off of her great performance with partner Athena Yang at the Inaugural U.S. Women's Amateur Four-Ball Championship, where the duo captured medalist honors.

Live scoring for both rounds of stroke play qualifying, June 13-14, will be available by clicking here. Live scoring for the Semifinal matches, along with the final Championship match, will also be available.
