Dade Amateur Defends Junior Team Title

After 36 holes in the Boys 16-18 division, the Dade Amateur Golf Association and the Bay Hill Junior Program were all tied at a two-day total of 292 after Michael Sedacca, of Bay Hill, forced a playoff when he birdied the 18th hole. In a sudden death playoff on the 18th hole, the Dade Amateur Golf Association won by one stroke to win the title for the third straight year. Jeremy Alderman, 17, Nestor Delgado, 18, and Carlos Velez, 16, all competed on last year’s Championship team.

In the Girls 16-18 division, the Dade Amateur Golf Association also won the girls division assisters Rebecca and Jamie Kuhn teamed up to fire a 165-160—325 two-day total. Rebecca, 18, who will be attending LSU in the fall, birdied two of the last three holes to post an even par 72 for the final round.

In the Boys 13-15 age division, the Junior Golf Association of Broward County team of Bobby Bode, 15, Neil Horsley, 15, and Clint Ramsden,15, recorded a 143-153—296 to place first in the division. Neil Horsley recently won the South Florida Memorial Day Championship led the team shooting a 70-76—146.

In the Girls 13-15 division, the Greater Sarasota Junior Golf Association placed first with scores of 161-158—319. Rebekah Thomas led her teammates, Christina Miller and Maria Ronderos, shooting a 76-78—154. 

In this 36-hole stroke play competition the total of the low two of the three gross scores count for each round. This event is open to junior programs that provide organized tournaments, instruction or clinics which are open to all junior golfers in the community. The Boys 16-18 age division played the Plantation’s Bobcat course from approximately 6600 yards and the Girls 16-18 division played the same course at 6000 yards. The Boys 13-15 age division competed on the Panther course from 6400 yards as the Girls 13-15 played from approximately 5800 yards out.
