Conte and Pickering Win Net Two-Man Team Championship

Tampa's Jason Conte teamed with Ponte Vedra Beach’s Randy Pickering to claim the Florida State Net Two-Man Team Championship Sunday at Mission Inn Resort. The duo shot net scores of 65 and 64 for a 129 total to win by two strokes.

Joe Porta of Titusville and Bill Muldowney of Mims posted a final-round 62 to go with a 69 to end at 131. Third place finishers were Clifford Stratton Jr. of Englewood and his partner Steve Jakubaitis of Punta Gorda who shot 68-64--132.

St. Petersburg’s Buddy Lee and Ryan Cockman, the defending champions, finished in a tie for 10th after shooting 69-69--138.

First flight winners were Mark Larsen of Valrico and Keith Floyd of Lithia after shooting 70-65--135.

The championship used four-ball net stroke play with individual players playing to 80% of their course handicap.

The Florida State Net Two-Man Championship is the seventh of 17 championships conducted annually by the Florida State Golf Association.
