Men's Net Four-Ball Championship


CELEBRATION, Fla. – Four teams raised trophies at the Men’s Net Four-Ball Championship on Sunday at Celebration Golf Club. Mike See and Michael Ulsh were victorious in the Under 50 Division, while Edwin Torres and Carlos Lamarche took home the win in the 50-59 Division.

Gary Morris and Michael DiFrancesco earned the win in the 60-69 Division and James Quick and Marson Germanetti picked up the win in the 70 & Over Division.

Under 50 Division

See and Ulsh went wire-to-wire to capture their second-straight Net Four-Ball Championship. The duo took the first round lead with an 8-under 64, the low round of the championship, in the first round. They continued their strong play, securing the win with a final-round 65. They finished the day with seven net birdies and a net eagle on the sixth.

Frank Murati and John Walters IV took second place, finishing the championship at 11-under 133, while Andy Weber and Patrick Brisley finished third at 8-under 136.

50-59 Division

Torres and Lamarche picked up their second-straight Men’s Net Four-Ball title on Sunday. The pair took a first-round lead with a 5-under 67. Beginning the day with a one-shot lead, Torres and Lamarche fired a 9-under 63 to earn the victory, finishing the day with a bordoe, four net birdies and a net eagle.

Rick Weinacht and Steve Joustra finished five shots back in second place at 9-under 135, while Michael Leslie and Robert Shourds took third place at 8-under 136.

60-69 Division

Morris and DiFrancesco to capture the win in the 60-69 Division, ending the championship at 13-under 131. The duo fired a 6-under 131 on Saturday to take a two shot lead over the field after the first round. They secured the victory with a final-round 65, adding an eagle on the 15th.

Tommy Briggs and Gus Quiros finished runner-up at 9-under 135, and Robert Rosenberger and Rodger Daugherty finished third at 8-under 136.

70 & Over Division

Quick and Germanetti carded an 8-under 136 for the championship to win the 70 & Over Division. The duo took the lead after 18 holes, posting a 5-under 67 in the first round. They used a final-round 69 to take home the five-shot victory. Quick and Germanetti finished the final round with six net birdies and a net eagle.

Jim Bounds and Leonard Carothers finished runner-up at 3-under 141, while Raymond Ludwin and Larry Casale took third at 2-under 142.

  • 25 spots reserved for our "most active" FSGA One-Day Players
  • Most Active definition - Playing in 20 or more One-Day events during the 2019 season and returning a score. NO EXCEPTIONS
  • Most Active players entries will be first come first served and will be processed as soon as their entry is received
  • Both players MUST meet requirement, NO EXCEPTIONS
  • If the reserve spots fill before the deadline, all remaining entries will be treated as first come first serve
  • Deadline will be 7/15/2020 for most active players to submit their entry

Entries will be processed if players have completed 2 One-Day events (don't need to be Four-Balls) in the 2019 or 2020 season, and will be first come first serve.

Entry Fee 

$250 *Price per team* - Entry fee includes both competitive rounds, cart fees, tee gift, and gift certificate prizes. Late entries will be accepted subject to a $10 late entry fee should the entrant gain acceptance into the field.

Format

  • 36 holes of net Four-Ball stroke play
  • Maximum Field Size - 52 teams (104 players)
  • All players will play to 85% of their lowest index (LI) starting on January 6, 2020.
  • The course handicap differential between partners may be no more than eight (8) strokes. (If the differential is more than eight (8) strokes, the higher course handicap will be reduced to allow for the difference).
  • Both team members will play the same set of tees based on the age of the younger team member.
  • If there is a tie in any division, a modified USGA score card playoff will be completed using net scores. The tie breaker will be as follows:
    • Final 18 holes
    • Final 9 holes, then final six holes, then final 3 holes and finally the 18th hole score. 
    • If there is still a tie, a coin flip will determine the Champion

Eligibility

  • Male amateur golfer and a member of the FSGA
  • A valid Florida GHIN Handicap of 24.0 or less.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older by the first day of the Championship.
  • Players earn exempt status if both partners have won a One-Day Net Four-Ball during the 2020 season playing together as partners. Winning will give the players the option to bypass their second event.
  • Each player must have played in at least 2 One-Day events and register a score from January 1, 2019 through the close of entries on, November 18, 2020.
  • Entries are first come first serve and are charged after each player has completed their 2nd event and a score is registered.

Entry Priority

Entries will be accepted based upon the order of receipt. Entries received after the competitive field is full or after the close of entries, will be placed on an alternates list. Alternates will be contacted in the order of receipt of entry, if and when, a spot becomes available.

Handicaps

  • Must have a Florida GHIN Handicap of 24.0 or less. 
  • All players will play to 85% of their lowest index (LI) starting on January 6, 2020.

  • Handicap indexes will be taken from the GHIN update on Monday, December 7, 2020.

  • 8:00 AM - Round one shotgun start 

Sunday, December 13th

  • 8:00 AM - Final round shotgun start 
  • Awards ceremony immediately following the completion of play

Course Set-up

  • Under 50 Age Division - 6,300 - 6,500 yards approximately 
  • 50-59 Age Division - 6,000 - 6,200 yards approximately 
  • 60-69 Age Division - 5,500 - 5,700 yards approximately
  • 70 & Over Division - 5,500 - 5,700 yards approximately

Practice Rounds

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the championship on a space available basis. Practice rounds may be played after 12:00 PM on the weekend. The price for a practice round is $45 plus tax. Please call 407-566-4653 to arrange your practice round. The proper place to practice your golf swing is on the driving range, hitting multiple shots on the course is unacceptable.

Carts

Carts are included for all competitive rounds.  Players are responsible for practice round fees.

The 2019 Men’s Net Four-Ball Championship named three teams Champions at Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club. The teams of Mike See/Michael Ulsh, Edwin Torres/Carlos Lamarche, and Kevin Hyman/David Norka captured their respective divisions. Click here for previous year's results.

  • Caddies - Caddies are allowed in all FSGA Championships except Junior events. However, a player must not use a parent, step-parent or guardian as a caddie. The caddie MUST walk and the player's clubs must remain on the golf cart.

  • Play-off Method - If there is a tie for 1st place in each division a score card playoff will be used. *Net Scores*
    The final 18-hole score will be used first. If there is still a tie we will use the back nine scores from the final round as follows: last nine holes, followed by the last six holes, the last three holes, and finally the 18th hole to determine the Champion. If there is still a tie, a coin flip will determine the Champion.
