Junior Team Championship

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The teams of North Florida Junior Tour (Boys 16-18/Boys 13-15 & Girls 13-15) and Plantation Preserve Golf Academy (Girls 16-18) dominated tough competition to claim victories at the Junior Team Championship. 

PGA National Resort & Spa hosted more than 40 teams for two days of great golf and comradery at the Junior Team Championship. The Boys’ and Girls’ 16-18 divisions conquered the Champions Course while the Boys’ and Girls’ 13-15 divisions dominated the Squire Course. 

Boys 16-18 Teams

It was a tight race at the top of the leaderboard after round one with the Eagle Junior Golfers Club in the lead by one stroke at even par. Logan Jerrells carded a 66 (-6), his lowest score and the tournament low score, to help secure the early lead for the Eagle Junior Golfers Club. The North Florida Junior Tour followed close behind in second place at one over-par. Round two saw North Florida Junior Tour move into first place after great scores from Adam Vermut, Connor Holcroft, and Moses Compaan. The team finished two over-par in round two to finish as champions at three over-par 291. Cameron Owens, Christoperh Lee, and Fernando Castillo played for Wellington National Junior Golf. The team finished in second place after an impressive even par second round for a six-over 294 finish. The Eagle Junior Golfers Club fell to fifth place and the Junior Golf Association of Broward Country finished in third place. On the individual level, Adam Vermut won first at one under-par while Logan Jerrells finished one stroke behind in second place. 

Girls 16-18 Teams

The Plantation Preserve Golf Academy never let first place out of sight with consistent rounds of six and seven over-par. Madyson Gold, Natalia Jimenez, and Laura Lou played strong to secure first place by eight strokes at 301. Gold posted two rounds of 73 to help the team prevail over Emerald Coast Junior Golf Tour in second place. Madison Tenore, Paola Rosario-Sauri, and Taylor Moody put forth a great team effort to finish at 309. The Junior Golf Association of Broward County secured third place at 27 over-par 315. Madyson Gold stole first place individually due to her consistency and 146 (+2) finish. Zoey Iglesias, of Indian River Golf Foundation Player’s Club, and Maidson Tenore tied for second place, seven strokes back, at 153 (+9). 

Boys 13-15 Teams

Round one finished with a tie for first place between Don Law Golf Academy and Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation at nine over-par. Overcoming a one stroke deficit, North Florida Junior Tour captured first place after an impressive second round of seven over-par for a 305 (+17) total. Chase Carroll, Brody Stevenson and Jackson Klauk earned the win by one stroke over Gold Coast Junior Golf Foundation in second place. The second place team was represented by Brett White, Carson Baez, and Sean Richards. Five strokes back in third place finished Indian River Golf Foundation at 310 (+22). James Hassell, from Indian River Golf Foundation, took individual honors with an impressive one under-par round two for a 148 (+4) finish. Sertoma Junior Tour’s player, Lane Revell, finished in second place individually with rounds of 76-74—150. Brody Stevenson and Sean Richards tied for third at 152 (+8). 

Girls 13-15 Teams

A wire-to-wire victory was won by the North Florida Junior Tour as the team took the early lead by four strokes after a six over-par round one. Alexandra Gazolli, Anika Richards, and Tyler Ann Whiting made up the winning team who posted a final round 18 over-par. North Florida Junior Tour’s 312 total tied Junior Golf Association of Broward County, including players Amelie Alcantara, Kelly Shanahan, and Morgan Herring, for first place. The two teams headed to the first hole for a sudden-death playoff. All six players teed off and a birdie from Alexandra Gazolli helped secured the win for North Florida Junior Tour. Team B from the Junior Golf Association of Broward County finished in third place at 324 (+36) total. Individually, Amelie Alcantara finished in first with a nine over-par 153, three strokes over Anika Richards and Alexandra Gazolli in second place.

Junior Team Championship
Champion & Squire courses

Championship Format 

  • 36 holes of stroke play
  • Total of the low two scores per round of the three gross scores for each team will count per round as team score
  • Low gross total team score is Champion
  • Two courses will be utilized - players will play the same course both days
  • Three players per team and all three members must fall into one division (playing up allowed if approved by FSGA)

Course assignments are as follows:

Boys 16-18 Division - Champions Course
Girls 16-18 Division - Champions Course

Boys 13-15 Division - Squire Course
Girls 13-15 Division - Squire Course

Course assignments are subject to change pending number of entries received in each division.

Championship Field Size

Maximum of 60 teams - 180 players

Eligibility & Entry Priority

  • Open to junior programs that provide organized tournaments, instruction, or clinics that are open to all junior golfers in your community
  • National or statewide tours are not allowed to participate
  • Junior programs may select the individuals they send to the Team Championship by any criteria they select; however, all three players must be directly involved with the local program listed on the entry form
  • Only one team ("A" team) from each program will be accepted per division prior to the close of entries
  • Additional teams ("B", and "C") will be accepted on a space available basis after the entry deadline based on order of receipt of entry. All "B" teams entered before the deadline will be considered for acceptance before any "C" teams  are considered.
  • Entrant must not have reached their 19th birthday by the last day of the Championship and not attending college if graduated from high school. See exception here.

Junior Programs may reserve a spot (with a fully-paid entry) without team member's names prior to the closing date.

Entry Fee

  • $195 per team
  • Coaches carts are not included in above entry fee

Late entries will be accepted subject to a $10 late entry fee should the entrant gain acceptance into the field

Saturday, August 3rd

  • 6:45 - 9:15 AM Registration (Coach registers for team)
  • 7:30 - 9:27 AM - Tee times off of #1 & #10 (Champions course)
  • 8:30 AM Shotgun (Squire course)

Sunday, August 4th

  • 7:30 - 9:27 AM - Tee times off of #1 & #10 (Champions course)
  • 8:30 AM Shotgun (Squire course)

Entry Priority

Entries will be accepted based upon the order of receipt. Entries received after the competitive field is full or after the close of entries, will be placed on an alternates list. Alternates will be contacted in the order of receipt of entry, if and when, a spot becomes available.

Course Length

  • Boys 16-18 will play approximately 6,600-6,800 yards
  • Girls 16-18 will play approximately  5,600-5,800 yards
  • Boys 13-15 will play approximately 6,300-6,500 yards
  • Girls 13-15 will play approximately  5,400-5,600 yards

Based on age as of the last day of the tournament

  • Boy's Ages 16-18
  • Boy's Ages 13-15
  • Girl's Ages 16-18
  • Girl's Ages 13-15

The Championship is ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard.

Practice Rounds

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the Championship and after 12:00 PM the weekend prior on a space available basis at either golf course. The price for a practice round is $35.00 + tax which includes a cart (if 16 years of age or older). The number of carts per group may be restricted. To schedule your practice round call 561-627-1800. You may begin calling for practice round tee times one week prior to the day you wish to play. Practice round rate is for participants only.

Coaches

Each team is allowed ONE Coach.  Only that coach may give advice after the completion of a hole and before the start of the next hole.  Each Coach should register themselves as the team coach at the registration table to receive their team packet.

Coaches/Spectator Carts

Coaches and spectators may rent carts for $35 plus tax each day.  Carts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The FSGA requests these carts be used to assist in evacuation of players if play is suspended for dangerous situation (inclement weather).

Registration

There will be a registration table located outside the Golf Shop on Saturday morning. All players and coaches are expected to register before the first round. 

Awards

Crystal trophies will be awarded to each member and the coach of the winning team. In the Boys division, each member of the winning teams, and individual medalist (if on a non-winning team), will receive three exemptions to the Florida Junior Tour. In the Girls division, each member of the winning teams, and individual medalist (if on a non-winning team), will receive two exemptions to the Florida Junior Tour.
