Boys' Junior Championship

MEMORANDUM TO CONTESTANTS

On behalf of the Florida State Golf Association, congratulations on qualifying for the 2013 Boys Junior Championship. We hope that you enjoy your experience in competing in a state championship and take many favorable memories from your time at Sara Bay Country Club and Bradenton Country Club.

Please carefully read through this packet of information, there are several important pieces of information. If you have any questions please contact the Tournament Committee.

Championship Format

  • 54-holes of individual stroke play with two age divisions (16-18 & 13-15)
  • All players will play eighteen holes on each course before a cut is made.
  • Each division will be cut after 36-holes:
    C
    ut:
    - Low 51 scores and ties in the 16-18 division
    - Low 21 scores and ties in the 13-15 division
  • Final round held at Sara Bay Country Club

Tee Times and Groupings

Tee times and pairings for rounds one and two will be determined and posted on the FSGA website, on or before Wednesday, July 3rd. 

Registration

A registration table will be set up for players to pick up their tee gifts, hole locations and other player information.

Registration times and locations:

Monday, July 8th (practice round):  10:00 AM to 4:00 PM in the Clubhouse at Sara Bay C.C only.

Tuesday, July 9th:  6:45 AM to 9:45 AM at both clubs.

Practice Rounds

Practice rounds are available on a space available basis at each club. The cost of a practice round is $30 which includes range balls.  Players are walking during practice rounds, however, a cart may rented for $24 plus tax. A valid driver’s license is required to operate a golf cart.

Practice rounds can be scheduled one week prior to the championship on a space available basis. At Sara Bay, times must be booked three days prior to day requested. Starting times for your practice rounds are to be arranged by the calling the Golf Shop at each club:

Practice Facilities

The practice facilities are available to the players at no cost before, and after Championship rounds. The practice range at both clubs are IRONS ONLY. Anyone found hitting drivers or fairway metals may have their entry withdrawn.

Suncoast Golf Center:  Located two miles from Sara Bay C.C. and has a large range that allows drivers and fairway woods. On tournament days, the center will open at 7:00 AM and close at 10:00 PM.  A medium sized bucket is being offered to FSGA players for a discounted price of $5.

GPS and Range Finders

During competition rounds the use of electronic measuring devices is ALLOWED. 

Pull Carts

Pull carts are allowed during the Championship. Players must walk and carry their bag, or use a pull cart, for all Championship rounds. Caddies are not allowed.

Food and Beverage

Personal coolers and outside products are NOT allowed on property.

During Practice Rounds:
Normal food and beverage available at each club. Cash and credit cards accepted for payment. Cash is only accepted at the Halfway House at Bradenton Country Club.

During Championship:
Breakfast is NOT available at either club. Cash and credit cards accepted for payment. Only cash is accepted at the Halfway House at Bradenton C.C.

Lunch buffets on tournament days are available FREE TO ALL PLAYERS 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. The cost of the buffet is $12 for parents and spectators inclusive per person. Bottled water, snacks and fruit will be available on the starting tees for players during all Championship rounds.

Spectator Carts

Spectators may rent a cart during Championship rounds for $24 plus tax per cart. Spectators must have a valid driver's license to drive a cart and they must abide by the Spectator Cart Policy that will be distributed. Spectator carts may be very limited at each course and are available first come, first served.
