Touchberry & Odaiyar Win at Fountains

Ramsey Touchberry and Kristine Odaiyar both shot 1 under par rounds of 70 in Sunday's final round of the Florida Junior Tour event at the Fountains Country Club.  Scores that proved to be good enough to capture victory for both of them.

Odaiyar of Ocala shot a first round 77 that left her two shots behind Yueer Feng of Orlando and 1 back of Summer Moser of Lutz.  Odaiyar found herself two over par through 7 holes on day 2 but turned it around playing the final 11 holes in 3 under par.  Odaiyar's tournament score of 147 left her two shots clear of Moser and 3 shots clear of Feng.  This is Kristine's third FJT victory of the season, and she has come from behind in each one.  Odaiyar shot a 3 under par 69 at Brooksville Country Club in January to claim victory and in late May she fired a final round 66 to win at Orange County National.

In the boys' division, Ramsey Touchberry of Bradenton was able to outlast the field after beating Zachary Smith of Palm Beach Gardens in a 4 hole playoff.  Touchberry entered Sunday's final round 4 shots behind first round leader Matt Chamberlain who carded a first round 69.  Touchberry turned at 2 over par but made 4 birdies on his inward nine en route to a 2 under par 32 which was good enough for a 1 under par 70.  Zachary Smith made 4 birdies in his final round, finishing with 69 that left him tied with Touchberry at 143 for two days.

The two would head to a sudden death playoff beginning on the 16th hole.  Both boys made bogey on 16, birdie on 17 and pars on 18 which would lead them back to the 16th hole.  The 2nd time around, Smith pulled his drive into a bush and was forced to punch out leading to a bogey.  Touchberry two-putted from 30 feet for par to claim victory.

Players battled breezy conditions all weekend with winds consistently blowing 20-30 mph both days.

Total distance on each course ranges from 5,200 to 6,800 yards, depending on which of the five manicured tee boxes you choose. This selection assures a perfect fit for golfers of all abilities.

The Fountains boasts superb practice facilities. Enjoy the putting greens, the pitching areas, the bunkers and, of course, the expansive driving range that extends more than 300 yards.

Tee Times & Pairings

First round tee times and pairings will be available on the website. After the completion of the first round, all competitors will be repaired by score, within their age group, for their next round. Final round pairings will be available approximately one-hour after the final score has been posted. Pairings will be available on the website, at the club, and will be sent via text message. It is the player's responsibility to be at his/her respective starting tee at least 10 minutes prior to teeing off. We recommend that you always see your tee time in black and white (in print), and if you still have questions, please contact an FSGA Official at the host facility.

Range Finders - Electronic distance measuring devices are NOT allowed.

Music - Phones and other devices that play music should not be used at the tournament site.  Listening to music during a competitive round will generally result in disqualification under the Rules of Golf.  This is true for all types of competitions - not just FJT.

Pace of Play

The FJT uses a checkpoint pace of play policy that provides no verbal warnings throughout the round. Each group is responsible for playing under the allotted time or finishing each checkpoint hole within 15 minutes of the group ahead of them.

Pace of play will be strictly enforced with anticipated rounds to be less than 4 hours and 45 minutes. We strongly recommend that all players and parents read and understand the Pace of Play Policy.
