Sisutham Stages Stellar Comeback to Clinch Victory

July 13, 2025

NAPLES, Fla. – There was no shortage of incredible competition during the final round of the Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship. In a Sunday showdown between Pimpisa Sisutham and Sophia Dyer, Sisutham came out on top, erasing a three-shot deficit to win by three strokes.

Heading into the final day, we had a two-person showdown, with Sophia Dyer and Pimpisa Sisutham sharing the co-lead at 10-under par. Both players were six shots ahead of the next competitor. The key to their success throughout the week was consistent play and a strong short game, with Dyer and Sisutham combining for only five bogeys through the first two rounds.

In the final round, both players got off to similar starts, making par on the opening hole. However, on the second hole, Sisutham failed to get up and down from the bunker, giving Dyer the early lead. From there, Dyer took complete control of the front nine—making birdie on the third hole, then pulling off a spectacular up-and-down after taking a drop on the fourth. She added birdies on holes five and six to take a commanding three-shot lead through six. Sisutham gained a stroke back on hole nine, draining a long birdie putt to cut Dyer’s lead to two at the turn.

Dyer and Sisutham again matched each other early on the back nine, making pars on 10 and trading birdies on the 11th. At this point, many of Vanderbilt CC’s members came out to show their support for the leaders, and the energy surrounding the final group was at an all-time high.

Heading into the 13th hole, Sisutham hit the middle of the green, while Dyer found the left bunker. This proved costly for Dyer, as it took her two shots to reach the green, resulting in a double bogey that brought both players to 12-under.

On the 15th hole, Sisutham took her first lead of the day, sticking an iron to four feet and draining the putt for birdie. She continued her momentum on the 17th, hitting another beautiful wedge shot to six feet and adding another birdie to secure a three-shot lead, and a lead that would prove insurmountable. Sisutham made a comfortable par on the 18th, sealing the victory.

“Honestly, I wasn’t counting how far back I was. I was trying so hard to just focus on my golf game and trying to go as low as possible, just like my last two rounds. I got my bad swing out of the way early, and I knew after that I could just focus on my game.”

With the win, Sisutham becomes the second straight player from UCF to claim the Women’s Stroke Play Championship, following in the footsteps of 2024 champion and fellow teammate One Kashima.
