2020 Amateur, Women’s Amateur Rescheduled

April 15, 2020

TAMPA, Fla. Due to the unprecedented nature of the COVID-19 pandemic and the continued uncertainty surrounding it, the FSGA has rescheduled the 2020 Florida Amateur and Women’s Amateur Championships.

The 103rd Amateur Championship has been rescheduled to December 17-20 at Black Diamond Ranch in Lecanto. The 91st Women’s Amateur Championship has been rescheduled to July 10-12 at BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens.

Qualifying for the Amateur Championship will take place November 16-December 10, with qualifying sites being announced at a later date.

Designed in 1984 by Tom Fazio, Black Diamond Ranch features 45 holes including two 18-hole courses, the Quarry and Ranch Courses, both of which will be in use for the 103rd Amateur Championship.

The Quarry Course, which will play as the main course for the championship, has garnered national praise and recognition. Following its opening in 1987, Golf Digest rated it among the Top-100 Courses in the United States and third in the state of Florida.

The Women’s Amateur Championship will be played in July at BallenIsles Country Club, taking the place of the Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship, and will be a 54-hole stroke play event with an 84-player field.

Originally named PGA National Golf Club, BallenIsles opened in 1964 and features three 18-hole courses, designed by Dick Wilson and Joe Lee. The East Course will serve as the host for the 2020 championship.

Entries for both championships will open on May 6.
