Sara Bay CC to Host 2013 Boys Jr

The 59th Boys' Junior Championship is headed to Sarasota in 2013

Sara Bay Country Club in Sarasota has agreed to host the 59th Florida Boys' Junior Championship next July 9-11, 2013. Sara Bay has hosted many state championships including the Florida Open, Florida Cup Matches, Mid-Amateur Stroke Play and many Florida Junior Tour events.

Founded in 1926, Sara Bay Country Club is a private, member-owned golf club located just north of downtown Sarasota. Designed by legendary architect Donald Ross, who considered Sara Bay among his personal favorites, the course is widely recognized as one of Florida’s finest classic golf courses.

Over 400 juniors ages 13-18 are expected to enter the championship next year. All players must either qualify through an 18-hole local qualifier or become exempt through performance at other state or national events.

The 2012 Boys' Junior Championship was held at Sawgrass Country Club and TPC Sawgrass with Hank Lebioda capturing his second title in three years and Andy Zhang winning the 13-15 age division after breaking records by qualifying for the US Open at 14 years old.
