STREAMSONG, Fla. – Plantation Bay Country Club raised the trophy on Thursday at the 2022 Men’s Interclub Championship. The Ormond Beach club picked up the win by just three points, finishing the week with 382 points, to earn its first Interclub title.
In the State Championship, the six lowest individual net scores (highest net stableford points) per team count towards the team total.
Plantation Bay began the championship with 196 points in the first round, to sit one point behind The Country Club of Winter Haven and Scenic Hills Country Club, in second place. Ty Capps led the way for the team, earning 35 points on Wednesday and finishing with five birdies and an eagle on the Streamsong Blue course.
Playing the final round on the Black Course at Streamsong, Plantation Bay put up 186 points in the final round to secure the victory. Timothy Zaccaro contributed 35 points for Plantation Bay, posting four birdies in the round. Roger Dean and Ron Newman were not far behind, posting 32 points each for Plantation Bay, each carding two birdies on the day.
The Country Club of Winter Haven took home a runner-up finish with 381 points. Starting the day with an share of the lead, Winter Haven picked up 182 points in the final round to take second place. Scenic Hills Country Club used 177 points in the final round to finish third.
The 2022 Interclub season began in January with over 160 clubs competing in a six-week regular season. Forty-two teams battled it out in the Regional playoffs in March, with 12 Regional champions being crowned.
