Hassell and Shin Take Home FJT Trophies

BOCA RATON, FL. – After battling out the tough and windy conditions on the weekend, two champions were crowned on Sunday at Osprey Point Golf Course.  James Hassell and Skylee Shin both win in commanding fashion to take home the FJT trophy!

Boys (16-18)

During Round 1, Francesco Abbonizio took a one-shot lead over the field with 1-under 71 on the day. Hans Risvaer and Poonyapat Nantsupawat all sat within one shot of Abbonizio, with all three playing together in Sunday’s final group of the day.

On Sunday’s round, Risvaer started off strong on his front nine with a birdie free 2-under to take a 3-shot lead over the field. Hassell came from behind and birdied his final two holes to post a 4-under 68 for the day, and low round for the tournament. Risvaer bogied his 17th hole to fall one shot short with a final round of 70, taking solo second. Hassell comes out on top with his first FJT win!

Rene Nicolas took solo third place with rounds of 74-71.

Girls (16-18)

Skylee Shin posted an impressive score of 69 in the windy conditions of Saturday’s round, turning in a total of 4 birdies for the day. Not too far behind sat Amelie Alcantara with a 2-under 70, who turned in 6 birdies on the day. The two would be paired together for Sunday’s round along with Jordan Knox who sat 4 shots behind Shin.

Shin and Alcantara both started their round on Sunday with a 1-over 37 on their front nines to keep a one shot difference between the two. Shin finished strong on her back nine, posting a bogey free 2-under 34 to shoot 71 for the day and take home a 3-shot win over Alcantara.

Sabrina Kim came from behind in the final round, shooting an even-par 72 to take solo third place. Kim posted 3 birdies for the day with a bogey free back nine.
