Two Teams Capture Forty & Over Four-Ball

TAMPA, Fla. – Joe Alfieri and Daniel DeBra captured the Forty & Over Four Ball Championship (North) victory on Sunday at Deer Island Country Club. Meanwhile at the South Championship, Milko Brito and Samuel Martinez won the rain-shortened event after a three playoff with two other teams.

North

Joe Alfieri and Daniel DeBra grab the win at Deer Island Country by two strokes. The team pulled through a wire-to-wire victory after sharing the first round lead with a score of 66. Alfieri and DeBra finished with a 13-under 36-hole total of 131.

Alfieri and DeBra started off the round with four birdies on the front 9 and made the turn at 4-under par. The pair proceeded to fire a back-nine total of 33 to secure a bogey-free final round score of 65.

DeBra carded eight birdies over 36-holes. In addition, Alfieri, a Quarterfinalist in the 41st Mid-Amateur Championship, carded six birdies over 36-holes en route to their victory.

The teams of Jon Veneziano and Stephen Anderson along with Ryan Irvin and Tim Cobb finished runner-ups with 11-under 133 totals. Irvin and Cobb had the low round of the event with a 10-under 62 in the final round to climb nine spots on the leaderboard.

Samuel Martinez and Milko Brito secure the Forty & Over Four-Ball Championship (South) in a dramatic finish on Sunday at the Fox Club.

Martinez and Brito made the turn at 1-under and two-strokes off the lead to start the day. The pair then fired a 4-under 33 on the back nine for an 18-hole total of 67. Martinez and Brito birdied four out of the last five holes to force a play-off. Brito then went on to birdie the third play-off hole to capture the win for their team. Overall, the team carded seven birdies over 18 holes. 

David Yarmitzky and Michael Wurtenberger finished tied for second-place with Greg Hendrix and Tim Hendrix with an 18-hole total of 5-under par 67.
