Gianakas & Sanabria Victorious at Fairwinds

Fort Pierce, Fla. - Vasili Gianakas and Emma Sanabria captured the victory on Sunday at Fairwinds Golf Club. Gianakas secured the win in the Boys Division with a birdie on his second playoff hole and Sanabria drained a 15-foot birdie putt on her first playoff hole to be crowned champion in the Girls Division. The windy conditions were no match for the great play over the weekend!

Boys (13-15)

During round one, Sohan Patel put together an impressive round of 4-under 68 carding four birdies and an eagle. However, the Weston native had eleven players within four shots of his lead. Jake Valentine and Talan Wilkes carded rounds of 3-under 69 to sit one shot behind Patel going into Sunday. 

After nine holes on Sunday, Vasili Giankas carded an impressive 4-under 32 on his front nine to take a one shot lead over Patel heading into the back nine. Gainakas finished out his round strong with a 2-under 34 on the back nine which included an eagle on the 17th hole and birdie on 18th hole to put him at eight under for the weekend. Patel didn't lose any momentum on his back nine and posted an eagle on the 13th hole and birdie on the 17th to shoot a bogey free 68 for the day, which put him in a tie for first with Gianakas. During the first playoff hole, both players hit impressive shots into the green and drained both birdie putts. They would move on to the second playoff hole where Gianakas would make his birdie putt to take the win over Patel. 

Jordan Brown took solo third with rounds of 70-70--140, with his final round being bogey free. 

Girls (13-15)

Players braved the winds during round one. Nicole Sardinha made an impressive six birdies on the day to shoot a 2-under 70, which gave her a three shot lead. Ann-Sophie Bourgault sat three shots back of Sardinha with a round of 73, along with four other players who sat four shots back of the lead. 

On Sunday, Emma Sanabria started off strong on her front nine. She posted a 3-under 33 to take a tie for the lead with Bourgault who posted a 1-under 35 on her front nine. Sardinha sat one shot back of the lead after nine, but stayed steady on her back nine to shoot a 4-over 76 for the day. Sanabria posted an impressive 2-under 70 for the day to put her in a playoff with Sardinha. During the first playoff hole, both players gave themselves great looks at birdie. Sardinha just missed her birdie putt while Sanabria sank her putt to win the FJT title. 

Sofia Rivera posted the lowest 18-hole total for the girls, with a 3-under 69 final round to put her in a tie for third with Ann-Sophie Bourgault and Bianca Gibbs at 3-over 137.
