Schofill, Keyer-Scott Named Players of the Year

November 8, 2023

TAMPA, Fla. – Megan Schofill and Kim Keyer-Scott have been named 2023 Florida State Golf Association’s Women’s Players of the Year. Schofill was awarded Amateur Player of the Year honors, while Keyer-Scott was named Senior Player of the Year.

This is the second time for both Schofill and Keyer-Scott who each earned Player of the Year honors in 2020.

Women’s Player of the Year

Megan Schofill received this honor after a remarkable 2023 season. The Auburn University graduate student won the U.S Women’s Amateur Championship at Bel-Air Country Club in August, defeating fellow Floridian, Latanna Stone, 4-and-3.

"I'm so honored to be named the Women's Player of the Year," Schofill said. "Winning this award means so much to me and I am just so thankful to everyone that helped me along the way. Being awarded an honor like this really shows that all the hard work pays off.”

Playing in her sixth U.S. Women’s Amateur, Schofill is the first Floridian to win the title since Morgan Pressell in 2005. The 2020 Florida Women’s Amateur champion also becomes the first Auburn Tiger to win the U.S. Women’s Amateur.

With this victory, Schofill receives exemptions into the 2024 U.S. Women’s Open, Chevron Championship, AIG Women's British Open and Amundi Evian Championship, along with an invitation to the 2024 Augusta National Women’s Amateur.

In addition to her success on the USGA, Schofill had a standout season with Auburn University. She played in 10 events with a 71.67 scoring average, which was the best average on the team, and the second best average in the program’s history. Schofill, who is currently ranked 12th on the World Amateur Golf Ranking, also captured a runner-up finish at the SEC Championship.

Women’s Senior Player of the Year

Kim Keyer-Scott has earned Women’s Senior Player of the Year honors following a successful 2023 season filled with wins and top finishes. This is the second time in three years that Keyer-Scott has received this honor.

"I’m thrilled to receive this honor. This one is especially sweet because I finally see the end of the tunnel with my breast cancer treatment," Keyer-Scott said. " This is the first year in three and a half years that I’ve felt completely healthy and that I’ve gotten my strength back."

"It’s a blessing to play golf at all. To play at a high level is doubly rewarding. My heartfelt thanks to all that helped and supported me during my journey."

Most recently, Keyer-Scott captured a victory at the Southern Senior Amateur, a victory that secured the Player of the Year honors for the Bonita Springs resident.

Keyer-Scott advanced to the Semifinals at the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship at Troon Country Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. She took her Semifinal match to extra holes, falling to the eventual champion, Sarah Gallagher, in 19 holes. The 56-year-old also advanced to the Round of 64 at the U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

Keyer-Scott also found success in FSGA Championships including a fifth place finish at the Women’s Senior Amateur Championship. She also made the cut and secured a sixth place finish at the Florida Women’s Senior Open.

Schofill and Keyer-Scott will be honored at the FSGA’s Annual Dinner in Orlando at Rosen Shingle Creek In November. The Annual Dinner celebrates the best players in the state, volunteers, board members and many other important individuals involved in the game of golf in Florida.
