Match Play Quarterfinals Set

All 96 players played an 18-hole seeding round on Thursday, August 7 and advanced to match play on Friday, August 8. After one match play round on Friday and one Saturday, the quarterfinal and semifinal matches are set for Sunday. The final matches will be played at a later date to be determined. After the 18-hole seeding round, players were divided into five flights. The championship flight consists of 32 players while four additional flights feature 16 players each. Ultimately, there will be a Match Play Champion and four separate flight winners.

In the Championship flight, James Douris, of Daytona Beach, defeated defending champion, Mark Leetzow, of Sarasota, 1 up. Douris, will play Michael Nealy, from Boca Raton, who beat Aaron Tallman, of Pembroke Pines, 4 and 3. The other quarterfinal matches include Brett Blondell, of Lakeland, versus Joe Lamielle, of Sarasota. Last year's runner-up, Matthew Lemma, of Trinity, will play Bruce Scamehorn, of Winter Haven. The final match in the Championship flight will feature Kyle McCarthy, of South Pasaden, versus Andy Purnell, of Jacksonville.

Organized in 1913, the Florida State Golf Association is a not-for-profit organization that governs amateur golf in the state of Florida.
