Top Players Advance in Women's Am

Round one matches highlight strong field

Kailey Walsh, of Boca Raton, claimed medalist honors at the 83rd Women's Amateur Championship at Weston Hills Country Club in Weston.  She shot 67 on the par 72 Tour Course.  Monday's Championship Division seeding round proved a test for some and others took advantage of the outstanding conditions. The top 32 players qualified for the Championship Division, and those that missed the cut were flighted by handicap into the Field Division.

Tuesday's first round of match play finished right in time before inclement weather approached. Top names advancing in the Round of 32 matches include medalist Walsh, past champion Meghan Stasi,  Diane Lang, Tama Caldabaugh, and others.  Round of 16 Championship matches and Field Division matches will begin at 7:30 am on Wednesday, May 9th.
