FSGA Allocation of Qualifying Spots and Alternate Procedures

FSGA Allocation of Qualifying Spots and Alternate Procedures

Allocation of Qualifying Spots

In order to determine the number of qualifying spots allocated to each qualifying site after the close of entries, the following procedure is followed.

  • The number of exempt entries is subtracted from the total number in the Championship field to determine the resulting number of spots available through qualifying to complete the Championship field.
  • Qualifying spots are then proportionately allocated by the number of players at each site. For example, a site that has 20 players attempting to qualify will have twice the number of spots as a site that has 10 players attempting to qualify.

Qualified Player Withdraws

If a player that has qualified for a Championship withdraws, the next alternate from the same qualifying location will immediately be called at the phone numbers provided and given the opportunity to replace the withdrawn player. If that alternate can not fill the spot, that alternate will be withdrawn and the next alternate from the same qualifying location will be called at the phone numbers provided and given the opportunity to replace the withdrawn player.

If a player that has qualified for a Championship withdraws and there are no more alternates available from the same qualifying location, that spot is reallocated by the reallotment list.

Exempt Player Withdraws

If an exempt player withdraws from a Championship, that spot is reallocated by the reallotment list.

Reallotment List

The number of qualifying spots determined for each site is often times rounded up or down. This rounding results in some sites being shorted up to half a spot and other sites being given up to an additional half a spot. The sites are then ranked in order according to the amount their spots were rounded. The site that was rounded down the most is first on the reallotment list and the site that was rounded up the most is last on the reallotment list.

If an exempt player withdraws or a site is not able to fill a qualifying spot from its alternates list, the spot is then reallocated to the next site on the reallotment list. If that site is not able to fill a qualifying spot from its alternates list, the spot is then reallocated to the next site on the reallotment list.

After a spot is assigned to a site on the reallotment list, that site then goes to the bottom of the reallotment list.

On-Site Alternates

Qualifying for Championships - If a player withdraws or no-shows on the day of the qualifier, the spot will be filled by an alternate standing by on site. Should there be more than one alternate on site, the highest ranking alternate on the list of alternates for that site will be entered.

Championships Requiring Qualifying – The site from which the withdrawing or no-showing player qualified will be identified and the spot will be filled by the highest ranking alternate standing by on the list of alternates from that site. Should there be no alternate from that site standing by, the spot will be filled by the highest ranking alternate standing by on the list of alternates from the next site on the reallotment list.

If the withdrawing or no-showing player was exempt fromqualifying, the spot will be filled by the highest ranking alternate standing by on the list of alternates from the next site on the reallotment list

Championships Not Requiring Qualifying - If a player withdraws or no-shows on the day of Championship, the spot will be filled by an alternate standing by. Should there be more than one alternate on site, the highest ranking alternate on the list of alternates for that site will be entered.

The FSGA does not encourage players to show up on site as alternates. There is no guarantee of gaining entry into the event. It is up to the alternate to make that decision.
