Memorandum to Contestants

 

On behalf of the FSGA, congratulations on being accepted to the Junior Match Play Championship.  We hope that you enjoy your experience competing at a State Championship and take many favorable memories from your time at Eagle Creek Golf Club.

 

Please take time to carefully read through this information.  There are several important pieces of information contained here, some of which require action by you, by a certain time (e.g. hotel reservations, practice rounds, etc.).  If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the FSGA Championship Department at (813) 632-3742 or championships@fsga.org.  

 

Championship Format –Boys 16-18 Age Division

Monday, July 30th

18-hole seeding round. All players must return an 18-hole score.

Players will be placed in brackets based on their seeding round score.

·         Championship bracket - Low 32 scores from the seeding round

o   A playoff will be held immediately after the seeding round to determine the low 32 players if necessary.

·         Ben Hogan bracket – The next 16 low scores from the seeding round

·         Bobby Jones bracket – The next 16 low scores from the seeding round

·         Sam Snead bracket – The high 16 scores from the seeding round

All ties for bracket determination (except Championship bracket) will be broken according to the USGA “matching scorecards” procedure as described in Appendix I of the Rules of Golf.

All ties for seeds within brackets will be determined randomly.

 

Tuesday, July 31st

First and second round of matches.

·         All players play a match in the morning. 40 players will be eliminated.

·         Winners of the first round of matches will play the second round of matches that afternoon.

o   Afternoon starting times will be posted on the scoreboard. Players will have approximately 30 minutes between their first and second round matches.

o   20 players will be eliminated.

 

Wednesday, August 1st

Third round of matches for all brackets. Fourth round of matches for Championship bracket only.

·         All remaining players play their third round of matches in the morning. 10 players eliminated.

·         Remaining players in the Championship bracket will play their fourth round of matches in the afternoon.

o   Afternoon starting times will be posted on the scoreboard. Players will have approximately 30 minutes between their first and second round matches.

o   2 players will be eliminated

 

Thursday, August 2nd

Final round of matches for all four brackets.

All matches will begin in the morning will be 18-hole matches to determine the Champions.

 

In the event of a tied match, (a) the winner will be decided immediately by a hole-by-hole playoff and (b) the stipulated round is deemed to extend to as many holes as are required for a match to be won.

 

Tee times & Groupings

Tee times and pairings groups for the seeding round will be arranged and posted on the FSGA website at www.fsga.org  on or before July 6th.

 

Practice Rounds

Practice rounds are available one week prior to the Championship.  Practice rounds will be restricted until after 10:00 AM on the weekdays, after 1:00 PM on Saturday, and after 12:00 PM on Sunday. 

 

The cost of the practice round is $25 plus tax. Starting times for your practice round can be arranged by calling the club. The Eagle Creek Golf Club’s telephone number is 407-273-4653.

 

PRACTICE RANGE

Range balls will be provided only prior to the competitive rounds.

 

Eagle Creek Golf Club

The Membership, Management and the Board of Directors of Eagle Creek Golf Club would like all of you to enjoy your experience during the Junior Match Play Championship.

 

·         Players are to change their shoes in the locker room; not in the parking lot.

·         Players are encouraged to use the services of the clubhouse including the buffets and grill room for food and beverage as well as the locker room and its services.

·         Gentlemen are prohibited from wearing their hats while in the club house.

 

Dress Codes

Gentlemen are required to have shirts tucked in and hats worn properly while on the golf course.

 

Remember that you are guests of Eagle Creek Golf Club. Entries are subject to rejection or withdrawal at any time (including during the event). The reason for rejection may include improper attire and/or unbecoming conduct.

 

Accommodations

There are rooms available on a space available basis at the Crowne Plaza Orlando Airport Hotel in Orlando at the rate of $99 per night plus tax. Reservations may be made by calling the hotel direct at 407-856-0100 or 1-800-2-CROWNE. Please ask for the Florida State Golf Association rate.

 

Pace of Play

In order to accommodate 80 players, it is essential that the game be played at a brisk pace which may be defined as 4:30 during the seeding round and first round of matches; all other rounds of matches should be played in less than 4 hours. The pace of play will be monitored.  If and when it should become necessary to give each player in the group a penalty for slow play, we hope they will react with the understanding that we do it in the best interest of the Championship and the other players. 

 

The FSGA Championship Pace of Play Policy will be in effect for the seeding round (timing checkpoints at #9 and #18).

 

The FSGA Pace Play Policy (old policy) will be in effect during all matches (individual timing of players).

 

Please familiarize yourself with each policy. Both policies are posted under the Info icon on the Championship schedule.

 

Caddies

Caddies are not permitted.

 

Spectator Carts

Spectators may rent a cart for $20 plus tax per day. Spectator carts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the number of carts available may be limited.

 

Registration

There will be a registration table outside the pro shop prior to the seeding round. All contestants are requested to check in. You will receive a tee favor and tournament information at the registration table.

Eagle Creek Golf Club accepts cash, Visa/MasterCard and American Express for payment.
