Memorandum To Contestants

On behalf of the Florida State Golf Association, congratulations on qualifying for the 2005 Amateur Championship.  We hope that you enjoy your experience in competing in a state championship and take many favorable memories from your time at Bear Lakes Country Club.

Please take time to carefully read through this packet of information.  There are several important pieces of information contained here, some of which require action by you, by a certain time (e.g. pre-registration, hotel reservations, practice rounds, etc.). If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the FSGA Championship Department at (813) 632-3742.

Please Note Pre-Registration Policy

Registration Deadline

By 3:30 PM, Monday, June 20th, all eligible exempt and qualifying players must pre-register and remit $55 either online at the FSGA website at www.fsga.org or by check to the FSGA office for advance payment of Championship fees. Championship fees include tee gift, cart fees and range balls for all competitive rounds.

Failure to meet this deadline will constitute and result in withdrawal. The spot will then be offered to an alternate.

Accommodations

Arrangements have been made at the Courtyard West Palm Beach by Marriott for $79 per night. You may make reservations online at www.courtyard.com/pbich. Please select the dates you need to reserve and enter in the group code either “fsgfsga” for a single or “fsgfsgb” for a double. Or you may call the national reservations number toll free at (800) 321-2211 or direct at (561) 640-9000 by June 15 and request the FSGA Amateur block rate.

Directions

Written directions to Bear Lakes Country Club and the Courtyard West Palm Beach Marriott Hotel are included with this memorandum.

Tee Times and Pairing Groups

Tee times and pairings groups will be arranged and posted on the FSGA website at www.fsga.org  on June 16. All competitors with a valid email address on file with the FSGA will have a link to the pairings emailed to them.

Practice

Players may play one practice round on each course up to seven (7) days in advance of the Championship. Anytime on weekdays and after 12:00 PM on Saturday and Sunday on a space available basis at the rate of $25 plus tax which includes cart and practice balls. Players may call (561) 478-0002 up to one week in advance. Those practicing on Wednesday, June 22nd should anticipate significant maintenance activity on the course.

The proper place to practice your swing is on the driving range. Hitting multiple shots on the course is unacceptable in order to allow all players an opportunity to complete practice rounds.

Carts

All players must ride in the Championship rounds.  Carts are included in the Championship fee for all competitive rounds.

NOTE: NO ONE OTHER THAN THE PLAYERS MAY RIDE IN A CART.

                        THIS INCLUDES CADDIES AND SPECTATORS.

Charges

Bear Lakes Country Club will accept cash, Visa or MasterCard for payment during the week of the Championship.

Spike Policy

It is a condition of the Florida State Golf Association that shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e. ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (when such metal comes in contact with the surface of the putting green) are prohibited.  Penalty for breach of this condition: Disqualification.

One-Ball Rule

The one-ball rule is in effect during the 72 holes of the Championship rounds.

Pace of Play

In order to accommodate 168 players, it is essential that the game be played at a brisk pace which may be defined as a few minutes more than four hours in groups of three during the Championship rounds.  The FSGA Pace of Play Policy will be strictly enforced and will be monitored.  If and when it should become necessary to speak to individual players about slow play, we hope they will react with the understanding that we do it in the best interest of the Championship and the other players.

The allotted time for the pace of play will be posted on the Notice to Competitors.

Thank you and good luck!
