Junior Team Championship

Walt Disney World Golf (Palm/Magnolia) - Lake Buena Vista

July 19-20, 2003

 


 

Disney’s Magnolia & Lake Buena Vista courses will host the State Junior Team Championship. Sporting 1500 magnolia trees, 98 bunkers, and water on 12 holes, the “Mag” includes a signature Mickey Mouse silouette bunker. The Lake Buena Vista was designed by Joe Lee and includes an island green on the 7th. This course is one of a select few that have been the site of a PGA TOUR event, an LPGA TOUR event, and a USGA event.

ELIGIBILITY

Open to junior programs that provide organized tournaments, instruction, or clinics that are open to all junior golfers in your community. National or statewide tours are not allowed to participate. Junior programs may select the individuals they send to the Team Championship by any criteria they see fit.

ENTRY FEE

$160 per team. ($150 for online entry.)

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

36 holes stroke play. Total of the low 2 of the 3 gross scores each round.

Players are responsible for cart fees for all practice rounds.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

In the Boys 15-17 Division, Central Florida Jr. Golf Tour (Joong Jo, Greg Koch, and Gi Won Suh) won by eleven strokes with scores of 141-146--287. Central Florida Jr. Golf Tour (Hannah Brabb, Samantha Bell, and Stephanie Delgado) won the Girls 15-17 Division after a one-hole playoff. They posted 172-160--332. Dade Amateur Golf Association (Carlos Veles, Michael Stern, and Juan Velez) won the Boys 12-14 Division with scores of 148-149--297.  In the Girls 12-14 Division, Bay Area Junior Golf Tour posted a 160-160--320 to win by 6 strokes.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Arrangements have been made at the Radisson Resort Parkway for $78 per night with a deadline for reservations of July 17. Call (800) 634-4774 and identify yourself as an FSGA competitor for reservations.

DEADLINE

Each Junior Program can send as many teams as it prefers. A team consists of 3 players from one of the four age divisions. Prior to June 4, 2003, only 4 teams (one from each age Division) per program will be entered into the field in order of receipt. If the field of 60 teams is not full as of June 4th, additional teams will be added on a first come, first-serve basis.
