2021 Amateur & Women's Amateur Sites

November 13, 2020

TAMPA, Fla. Streamsong Resort, in Streamsong, will be the host site for the 104th Amateur Championship, while Hammock Dunes Club, in Palm Coast, will be the host for the 92nd Women’s Amateur Championship.

The Amateur Championship will be contested on June 24-27, 2021, with the Women’s Amateur Championship being played on June 16-20, 2021.

104th Amateur Championship

Opened in 2013, Streamsong Resort features three 18-hole courses, Streamsong Blue, Streamsong Red and Streamsong Black. Both the Blue and Red courses will be in use for the 104th Amateur Championship.

The Red and Blue courses were first on the property and were a unique collaboration between some of the brightest and most respected minds in golf architecture.  Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed the Red, while Tom Doak designed the Blue. However, they were given the same property to work with, so the two courses weave between one another throughout the 18 holes.

The resort opened seven years ago, but its origin goes much further back.  Streamsong’s developer, The Mosaic Company, has owned the 16,000 acres that Streamsong operates for more than 50 years and mined the land for phosphates in the 1960s.

The Red and Blue courses recently reopened after re-grassing the putting greens on both courses.

Streamsong has been host to a number of FSGA championships, most recently the 2020 Boys’ Junior Amateur Championship and the 2020 Four-Ball Championship. The resort also played host to the 2019 U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying and the 2019 Boys’ and Girls’ Junior Amateur Championships.

The Amateur Championship has a rich history dating back to 1913 with A.C. Ulmer winning the first of his four titles. Other past champions include: Carl Dann Jr. (five-time champion), Don Bisplinghoff (four-time champio), Bob Murphy, Doug Sanders, Gary Koch, Jerry Pate, Buddy Alexander and Blayne Barber.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 Amateur Championship was rescheduled from its normal summer date. The 103rd Amateur champion will be crowned in December at Black Diamond Ranch.

92nd Women’s Amateur Championship

The host of the 2021 Women’s Amateur features two courses, the Creek Course designed by Rees Jones and the Links Course designed by Tom Fazio.

The Creek Course, which will serve as the main course for the championship, is designed to be a private golfing experience that keeps the purity of the nature and wildlife that surrounds it. The well bunkered and forest surrounded golf course should provide a great test of golf for the 2020 competitors.

The Links Course was the first course designed of the two and will play as the secondary course for the 2021 championship. It’s features a newly renovated clubhouse, as well as three holes that overlook the Atlantic Ocean.

Hammock Dunes has played host to FSGA Championships in the past, including the 2013 Four-Ball Championship, the 2018 Florida Cup and most recently the 2019 Florida Open.

The Women's Amateur Championship is the oldest and most prestigious event on the Women's Championship schedule. Past Champions include the names of Alice Dye, Tammy Bowman, Cristie Kerr, Meghan Stasi, Taffy Brower and other notables.

Megan Schofill overcame a 10-shot deficit to capture the 91st Women’s Amateur Championship at Mission Inn Resort & Club, earning her first FSGA championship victory.

Entries open for next year’s Amateur and Women’s Amateur Championship open on January 13 at 8 a.m.
