Winter Series Points Champions

March 11, 2013

After battling cold and windy conditions during the 2012-2013 Winter Series season, Stevenson Clarke, John Vaccaro, and Tom Austin prevailed as points champions of their respective divisions.

Stevenson Clarke, of West Palm Beach, (pictured top right) earned 559 points en route to capturing the points crown in the 40-54 Division. Clarke had a solid season with two wins and two second place finishes. By capturing the points crown, Clarke punched his ticket to the 96th Amateur Championship being held at The Jupiter Hills Club, in Tequesta being held June 20-23.

John Vaccaro, of Sarasota, (pictured middle right) captured the (55-64) Winter Series Points Championship with 573 points. Vaccaro's impressive season included two victories and no finishes outside the top five. By winning the Points Championship, Vaccaro earned an exemption to the 32nd Mid-Amateur Championship held at Mountain Lake Golf Course, in Lake Wales.

Tom Austin, of Lake Wales, (pictured bottom right) won the (65 & Over) Winter Series Points Championship for the second year in a row earning 453 points for the season. Austin was a model of consistency on the season finishing in the top 10 in every event. By capturing the points crown, Austin earned an exemption to the Senior Amateur Championship at Quail Ridge Country Club, in Boynton Beach held April 16-18.

The Winter Series events include seven competitions, six individual events and one four-ball event. There are three age divisions, Mid-Senior (40-54), Senior (55-64) and Super Senior (65 & over). The Winter Series is a great opportunity for golfers to compete in competitive events that normally may not because they do not live in Florida year round.
