NAPLES, Fla. — A combination of beautiful weather and a stellar golf course set the stage for Round One of the Women’s Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Vanderbilt Country Club. At the conclusion of an exciting round, it was Pimpisa Sisutham who emerged with a one-shot lead.
What Happened
Vanderbilt Country Club proved to be a true test for some of the best women’s players in the state. Pimpisa Sisutham took advantage of the ideal course conditions early, making four consecutive birdies on holes 4 through 7, then adding another on the difficult par-4 9th to reach 5-under par at the turn. From there, Sisutham maintained her consistent play on the back nine, continuing to hit greens and give herself comfortable pars. After shooting 1-under on the back, the UCF rising senior finished the day at 6-under, holding a one-shot lead.
Hot on her heels was Sophia Dyer, the 2024 Women’s Amateur Champion and future Florida Gator. After a steady 1-under front nine, Dyer caught fire on the back, birdieing five of the next six holes to briefly tie Sisutham. However, a costly bogey on the 16th hole left her one shot back heading into the second round.
Also in contention is Marley Pedrique, who carded a strong 4-under 68 to sit in solo third place.

Quotable
“I felt pretty good after the round today. My approach shots were really good. I think I’ll work more on my putting before tomorrow because the back nine has some very tough greens. I’ll also try to work on those approach shots even more.”
