The 2025 Mid-Amateur Four-Ball (North) was contested at Black Diamond Ranch, located in Lecanto. The course undergoing a full renovation in 2024, provided a beautiful setting and great test of golf for the competitors this weekend.
We could not have asked for better scoring conditions on Saturday which led to a packed leaderboard with four teams tied at the top. The teams of Hunter Spitler/Brad Knight, Ryan Jones/Clay Mallard, Daniel Dumala/Kyle Thomas and Ty Capps/Tyler Gulliksen all fired great rounds of eight under-par, 64, to take the first round lead. With a total of fourteen teams all within four shots the leaders knew they needed to continue making birdies. Sunday's final round is going to be a race to get out in front of the pack.
All four of our leaders started off on number one today and one team was able to separate themselves from the field through nine holes. Ty Capps/Tyler Gulliksen made three birdies through the first six holes to open up a two shot lead. Capps/Gulliksen turned at five under-par for the day after Gulliksen made eagle on the par 5 ninth. Throughout the back nine Capps/Gulliksen would continue their stellar play and extend their lead to three shots with just three left to play. With their birdie on th sixteenth and two clutch pars on the last two holes they were able to secure a four shot victory. This is just another impressive win for the pair as they continue to add to their resume.
