Maguire Continues Great Play | Kurey Wins

Jack Maguire and Emily Kurey captured their respective division titles at the Florida Junior Tour’s (FJT) event conducted at Southwood Golf Club, in Tallahassee, February 25-26.

In the Boys 16-18 Division, Jack Maguire, of Saint Petersburg, posted a tournament total of four-under par 140, to capture his second title of the season. Maguire fired a first round of four-under par 68 to take a one stroke advantage heading into the final round. Maguire continued his solid play in the final round shooting an even par round of 72, to hold on for a one stroke victory. Ryan Borg, of Orangeville, Canada, and Jeffrey Meltzer, of Bradenton, finished tied for second place with a tournament total of three-under par 141

In the Girls 16-18 Division, Emily Kurey, of Alpharetta, GA, went wire-to-wire to capture the title in her first career FJT event. In the first round, Kurey fired a five-over par 77, to take a one stroke lead heading into the final round. Kurey pulled away from the field in the final round after posting an even par round of 72, for a tournament total of five-over par 149. Alison Armstrong, of Tampa, finished in second place after rounds of 78-75.  Angela Gaines, of Ocala, finished in third place with a tournament total of 157.
