North & South Set to Battle for Cup

North Florida will defend the Junior Cup against the strengthened South Team

The North team has been on a great run the last five years at the Junior Florida Cup. They have defeated the South team each of the last five years, but the wins haven't come easy. Last year, the 10 boys and 6 girls representing South Florida held the lead heading into the final day (singles matches), but couldn't hold their lead and the Cup returned to North Florida once again.

The Junior Florida Cup is a Ryder Cup style format between the the top juniors from North Florida and the top 16 juniors from South Florida. Each team consists of 10 boys and 6 girls who are selected from the Florida Junior Tour points lists and through a Committee selection process. On the first day each player is paired with a teammate and they play a four-ball match against the opposing team and then in the afternoon, players pair up with another teammate and player a foursomes match (alternate shot). That evening at the Players Dinner, the players determine the single matches for the next morning. The evening is full of stories from the day's matches and some light hearted "smack talking" regarding the single matches.

The 2012 Junior Florida is being held at the highly exclusive Old Collier Golf Club in Naples on July 30-31. Click here for more information on the Junior Florida Cup. Below are the teams:
