Championship Information

Foursomes is a form of play that American's most commonly relate to the Ryder Cup Matches. A two person team will have one member tee off on odd holes, while the other partner tees off on even holes. The players then alternate shots until the ball is hold. Teams were able to compete in the Championship Division or Senior Division (both players age 55 or older).

Championship Division Recap

Round 1 saw the team of Duke Butler / Len Schoenfeld jump out to a one stroke lead with an opening 69 (-3), with a round that included birdies and three bogies. Three other teams posted under par rounds - Riley Goss / Collin Warren (70), Brent Dorman / David Griffin (70), and Darin Green / Jon Veneziano (71) to head into Saturday's final round in the hunt.

The Butler / Schoenfeld team did not hold the lead long, going out in six over par on the front nine, they were quickly behind the eight ball. Even coming home in 33 (-3) to post a second round 75, and finishing the Championship even par, they would fall to 4th.

Playing together, the teams of Dorman / Griffin and Goss / Warren would be neck and neck on the whole day. Tied through 15, Goss and Riley fell one behind with a bogey on the par 3, 16th, then quickly recovered birding the par 5, 17th. On 18, all tied, Brent Dorman would wedge his approach inside 10 feet below the hole, and David Griffin would convert for birdie, while Goss / Warren made par.

Senior Division Recap

The team of Walter Himelsbaugh / Kevin Macy shot out to a one stroke lead over Edward Parnell / Chip Peterson in the first round with an opening 72 (E). K C Fox / Ray Wenck were three off the path with an opening 75 (+3), while Rick Cloninger / Steve Riviere opened with 76 to sit four back.

Round two presented some increible scoring in the Senior Division. Playing in the final three-ball, Parnell / Peterson (70, -2) & Fox / Wenck (67, -5) quickly lapped Himelsbaugh / Macy (76 +4) to put Fox / Wenck on top of the board. However, they would be surprised by the pairing behind where Cloninger / Riviere posted 8 birdies and stayed bogey free, for a 64 (-8) to come from behind and be victorious by two strokes.
