Three FJT Alums Invited to Augusta Women’s Am

TAMPA, Fla. – Three Florida Junior Tour alums, Sierra Brooks, Dylan Kim and Alexa Pano, received invitations to play in the Augusta National Women’s Amateur. The inaugural event will be held April 3-6, 2019, the week before the Masters Tournament, in Augusta, Ga.

A field of 72 women amateur will compete over 54 holes of stroke play, with a 36-hole cut to 30 players. The first 36 holes will be contested over two days at Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga., and the final competitive round will take place at Augusta National Golf Club. 

Brooks captured the Women’s Southern Amateur Championship and the South Atlantic Amateur (SALLY) in 2015. That same year Brooks was the runner-up at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, falling to Hannah O’Sullivan, 3 and 2, in the final match.

Following her breakout season in 2015, she was named the Florida State Golf Association's Girls’ Junior Player of the Year, alsong with representing the United Sates at the Junior Solheim Cup.

The Lake Mary, Fla. native competed at the 2016 U.S. Women’s Open and LPGA ANA Inspiration and was a member of the 2016 United States Curtis Cup team.

After a year at Wake Forest University, Brooks transferred to the University of Florida prior to her sophomore season. In her first year as a Gator, she secured two individual wins, was named a Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Honorable Mention and named to the All-Southeastern Conference Second Team.

In December, Brooks qualified for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship with her teammate Addie Baggarly. The pair received medalist honors at the USGA qualifier at LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Florida.  


Kim secured the FJT Tour Championship in 2012, while also earning five other top-six finishes. The Winter Garden, Fla. native was a quarterfinalist at the Women's Amateur Championship and a runner-up at the Girls' Junior Championship in 2013. 

Kim transferred to the University of Arkansas and played her first season with the Razorbacks in 2017-18. She helped the team to its first SEC Conference and NCAA Regional titles, while also earning Second-Team All-Americans honors. Kim was also named a First-Team All-SEC Selection and the SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year. In her freshman season at Baylor University, Kim was named a Second Team All-American, All-Big 12 and Big 12 Freshman of the Year. She finished fourth at the 2015 NCAA Championship and led Baylor ti its first-ever conference title. 

She was also a member of the victorious United States team in the 2018 Arnold Palmer Cup at Evian Resort Golf Club in France and qualified for the 2018 U.S. Women's Open.

Pano was the named the 2016 FSGA Girls’ Junior Player of the Year, after a season that saw five Florida Junior Tour wins and second-place finishes at the Girls’ Junior Amateur and the Junior Amateur Match play. She also competed in the U.S. Women’s Amateur and advanced to the Round of 32 at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball. In

The Lake Worth, Fla. native won the Ione Jones/Doherty Championship in 2017 and was the runner-up at the U.S. Girls’ Junior in 2018.

This will not be Pano’s first time competing at Augusta National, as the 14-year old is a two-time Drive, Chip and Putt champion.

The 2019 Augusta National Women's Amateur Champion will receive an invitation to the next five Augusta National Women's Amateurs, the 2019 U.S. Women's Open, the 2019 Women's British Open, and any USGA, R&A and PGA of America amateur championships for which she is eligible for one year, provided she remains an amateur.
