U.S. Women’s Four-Ball Begins Saturday

April 25, 2019

TAMPA, Fla. – The top women’s amateur in the country will head to Jacksonville this week to kick off the 2019 USGA Championship schedule. The U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball Championship will begin on Saturday at Timuquana Country Club, with 16 players representing Florida.

The championship will begin with 64 teams competing in two rounds of stroke play on Saturday and Sunday, with 32 teams advancing to match play.

Here are some things to know about the Floridians in the field before the championship begins.

  • Jillian Bourdage and Casey Weidenfeld will be teaming up again this year, after advancing to the Round of 32 at last year’s championship.

  • FJT alum, Sammi Lee will be playing with former University of Georgia teammate, Mary Ellen Shuman. The two were runners-up at the 2017 championship.

  • Elle Nachmann, the 2017 Women’s Four-Ball Champion, will be competing with Laura Edmonds. Nachmann will be competing in her third-straight U.S. Four-Ball Championship, while Edmonds is playing in her first USGA Championship.

  • Meghan Stasi, a four-time U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Champion, and Dawn Woodard will be playing together again after advancing to the Round of 16 last year. Stasi captured the Women’s International Four-Ball title earlier this year, with partner Ina Kim.

  • Kaitlyn Schroeder, a Jacksonville native, has already secured two FJT wins this season. She will be teaming up with fellow Jacksonville native, Celeste Valinho. It is the first USGA Championship for both players.

  • FJT alum, Summer Moser, will be teaming up with former Loyola teammate, Elayna Bowser.

  • Karoline Tuttle, the 2018 Florida Women’s Amateur runner-up, will look to advance to match play after missing the cut at last year’s championship. Tuttle will be playing with Tennessee native, Sophie Linder.

  • Madison Hewlett and Jacqueline Putrino will both be competing in their first USGA championship. Hewlett won the 2018 FJT Tour Championship, while Putrino is an FJT winner this season.

  • Alexa Pano will be competing in her second U.S. Women’s Four-Ball, after advancing to the Round of 32 in 2015. Pano, who will be playing with California native Amari Avery, played in the inaugural Augusta National Women’s Amateur earlier this year.
