Things to Know: Southeastern Challenge

TAMPA, Fla. – This weekend, the best amateur golfers in Florida make their way to Georgia for the Southeastern Challenge Match. The Southeastern Challenge is a tri-state biennial competition between Florida, Georgia and Alabama. The Match is played over two days with four-ball, foursome and three-ball matches.

Here's everything you need to know about the 17th Southeastern Challenge Match, which will be held October 20-21 at Kinderlou Forest Golf Course in Valdosta, Ga.

Team Florida: Eight amateurs and four senior amateurs represent Florida. Meet the Team

Competition: The first day of the championship consists of four-ball matches in the morning, followed by foursomes matches in the afternoon. The final day is reserved for singles matches.

Host Course: Kinderlou Forest Golf Course, located in Valdosta, opened in 2004 and was designed by Davis Love III. The South Georgia club served as host to six PGA Nationwide Tour events and two PGA Web.com events in ten years.

Scoring: Each match is worth one point with ties earning a half point to the team total

Southeastern Challenge History: The trophy sat proudly in the FSGA office from 2010 to 2017 when Georgia captured its first win since 2008 last year at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter. Florida holds the most overall team victories with eight, while Georgia holds seven and one for Alabama. You can see the full history here.
