FSGA Announces New Women’s Golf Initiative

December 9, 2019

TAMPA, Fla. The Florida State Golf Association announced today the launch of The LinkUp, a new women’s golf initiative to encourage young women to get back into the game of golf.

Whether a player competed as a junior, collegiate athlete, or just casually plays with others, The LinkUp seeks to create a fun, welcoming and casual golf experience for those looking to pick the game back up.

The Linkup is for female golfers ages 21-39 with a recommended handicap of 34.0 or less and a fundamental understanding of the game. Events will be nine holes and will begin with a shotgun start, with start times ranging from 5 - 5:30 p.m.

Players have the option to play with a partner in two-person best ball (four-ball) or on their own ball.

The $25 entry fee will include nine holes of golf, a beverage, cart, range balls and prizes. Players will be able to request who they are paired with for the event, and the women’s tees at the club will be used.

Scheduled to begin in the spring of 2020, women are encouraged to bring friends, colleagues and family to join them on the course for nine holes. Events will begin in the Tampa Bay area, with four events on the schedule for the spring and four events slated for the fall.

The FSGA is dedicated to making every possible effort to provide golf that is accessible to women of all ages, including the early mid-amateurs who often face the most obstacles related to time and finances.

The first event is scheduled for March 18, 2020 at Tampa Palms Golf and Country Club in Tampa.

Entries for the spring events will open on January 15 at 8 a.m.
