TAMPA, Fla. –Megan Schofill and Kim Keyer-Scott were named the 2020 FSGA Women’s Players of the Year. Schofill was awarded Amateur Play of the Year honors, while Keyer-Scott was named the Senior Player of the Year.
Schofill received the honor after a standout year that saw success in state, collegiate and national events.
The Auburn University golfer had a strong start to the season, picking up her first collegiate win at the Lake Oconee Invitational in February. Her freshman season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but Schofill made the most of her first year for the Tigers.
She competed in all seven events, finishing her freshman season with four top-10 finishes. Schofill earned SEC All-Freshman Team honors and was named a WGCA All-American Scholar.
In July, the Monticello native captured the 91st Florida Women’s Amateur Championship. Schofill overcame a 10-shot deficit to capture her first FSGA championship. She fired a final-round 67 to capture the one-shot victory.
One month after her win at the Florida Women’s Amateur, Schofill had a Round-of-16 run at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship in Maryland. She fell to the No. 3 seed Emilia Migliaccio in 22 holes.
The Florida Junior Tour alumni began her sophomore season at Auburn in August and added a win at the Liz Murphey Fall Collegiate Classic in November.
Schofill also received an invitation to the Augusta National Women’s Amateur, which was cancelled and was named the Unites Sates team for the Arnold Palmer Cup to be played December 21-23 at Bay Hill Club & Lodge.
Keyer-Scott garnered Senior Player of the Year honors after a successful 2020 season.
She began her season with a third-place finish at the Women’s Senior North & South Championship in August. The Bonita Springs resident added a top-10 finish at the Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship later that month.
Keyer-Scott took home a runner-up finish at the Women’s Senior Amateur Championship in October. She put together rounds of 74-79 to finish two shots back of Susan Cohn. Most recently, Keyer-Scott advanced to the Quarterfinals of the Women’s Senior Amateur Match Play Championship.
The highlight her season came in October where she captured the Women’s Southern Senior Amateur Championship. Keyer-Scott battled rainy weather and difficult conditions to post two rounds of 75 and secure the two-shot victory.
