January 17, 2022

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - After 54 holes, Boyi (Barry) Zhang, and Siuue Wu, come out on top of an impressive field.  All players fought hard as Seminole Legacy Golf Club proved to be a challenge in very difficult conditions.  The FJT Florida State University 54-Hole Major concluded Monday afternoon with a neck and neck finish in both the boy’s and girl’s divisions. In each division, the final two holes were the determining factor in who lifted the trophy.

Boys (16-18)

Boyi (Barry) Zhang put together an impressive final round of 3-under 69 to win by one over Nicholas Prieto.  Zhang’s 69 was the low round of the tournament by three strokes and the only under par round recorded throughout the tournament.

Prieto carded two back-to-back rounds of 73 to put him in the lead group heading into the final round. Prieto held onto a one-stroke lead heading into the final hole where he took a double bogey and fell back into second place.

James Hassell rounded out the top three medalists with rounds of 72-77-76.

Girls (16-18)

Siuue Wu and Jordan Fisher were back and forth throughout the majority of the final round, but once the last putt fell, Wu came out on top after a final round 74. Wu played consistent golf on Sunday and Monday in the hardest weather conditions for the tournament shooting 74-74.  This is Wu’s second FJT victory in a row as she kicks off her 2022 season.

Starting the final round two strokes behind, Fisher put up a fight in round three, looking to pick up where she left off in the 2021 season. Fisher turned in rounds of 75-79-77 to claim second place in her first FJT event of the new season.

Ava Zeng, fired a final round 73 to retain her position in third place. Zeng’s 73 was tied for the low round of the day, as well as the low round for the tournament
