Five Things to Know: Women’s Interclub

TAMPA, Fla. –  The inaugural Women’s Interclub Championship will head to TPC Treviso Bay on Tuesday with 11 teams battling it out for the Women’s Interclub title. Here are five things to know before the championship begins on Tuesday.

Inaugural Women’s Interclub Season

The 2022 Women’s Interclub matches marked the inaugural women’s interclub season. The interclub matches are a state-wide competition between clubs. One-hundred teams signed for the inaugural season, that included a six-week regular season, two rounds of playoffs and a state championship.

How We Got Here

This season began with 1,361 golfers competing in 26 divisions over 11 regions. During the regular season, 100 teams played a total of 50 team matches a week. Four players competed each week in two four-ball matches. Thirty teams advanced to the regional playoff, with 11 teams clinching a spot in the state championship.

Host Club Looks to Take Home Win

TPC Treviso Bay, who is set to host the 2022 championship, is also one of the 11 teams competing. They finished the regular season at the top of their division with a 5-1-0 record and advanced to the state championship with a 22-12 win over Pelican Marsh in the Lee Island 2 Region playoffs.

11 Region Champions

Including TPC Treviso Bay, 10 teams punched their ticket to the state championship by advancing through the regional playoffs.

Tampa Region: Cypress Run defeated East Lake Woodland 14-10 in the regional finals to advance.
Suncoast Region: Heron Creek took down River Strand 14-10 to earn a spot in the state championship.
Cultural Coast Region: Renaissance took the regional title with a 16-8 win over Lakewood Ranch.
Lee Island 1 Region: Heritage Bay earned a 13-11 win over TPC Treviso Bay to move on.
Boca Region: Plantation Preserve defeated Miami Beach in a playoff to advance.
Treasure Coast Region: Lost City secured their spot in the playoffs with a 15-9 win over Old Palm.  
Treasure Coast 2 Region: Mariner Sands defeated St. Lucie Trails 16-8 in the regional finals to advance.
First Coast Region: After defeating Riviera 14-10 in the regional semifinals, Pont Vedra Inn earned the spot in the championship.
Northwest Region: Mark Bostick took down Lake Jovita 19-15 to earn their spot in the championship.
Panhandle Region: Santa Rosa secured its spot in the state championship after finishing 5-1-0 in the regular season.

TPC Treviso Bay to Play Host

TPC Treviso Bay will play host to the inaugural Women’s Interclub Championship. The Naples club is an Arthur Hills design and went through a renovation in 2020, a project that included a renovation all 18 greens. This is the second FSGA championship that Treviso Bay will play host to after the Mixed Shoot-out in 2019.
