NAPLES, Fla. – TPC Treviso Bay raised the trophy on Wednesday at the 2022 Women’s Interclub Championship at their home club. The Naples club picked up the victory by 16 points, finishing the week with 204 points, to earn the inaugural Women’s Interclub title.
In the State Championship, the three lowest individual net scores (highest net stableford points) per team count towards the team total.
TPC Treviso Bay began the championship with 101 points in the first round to take a three shot lead. Wendy Kowalewski led the way for the team, earning 37 points on Tuesday and finishing with a net eagle.
Beginning the final round with the lead, TPC Treviso Bay put up 103 points in the final round to secure the victory. Sue Carter contributed 37 points for Treviso Bay, posting a net eagle. Kathy Glennon was not far behind, posting 33 points for the team.
Heron Creek Golf & Country Club took home a runner-up finish with 188 points. The Heron Creek team picked up 90 points in the final round to take second place. Maggie Elmuts led the way for the team in the final round, carding 35 points for the day.
Ponte Vedra Inn & Club’s Polly Gleichenhaus aced the par-3 14th hole in the final round.
The inaugural Women’s Interclub season began in January with 100 clubs competing in a six-week regular season. Thirty teams battled it out in the Regional playoffs in March, with 11 Regional champions being crowned.
