April 19, 2022

TAMPA, Fla. –  The Men’s Interclub Championship will head to Streamsong Resort this week with 12 teams battling it out for the Interclub title. Here are five things to know before the championship begins on Wednesday.

15th Men’s Interclub Season

The 2022 Men’s Interclub matches marked the 15th men’s interclub season. The Interclub matches are a state-wide competition between clubs. One-hundred and sixty-four teams signed up for the 15th season, that included a six-week regular season, one round of playoffs and a state championship.

How We Got Here

This season began with 3,200 golfers competing in 41 divisions over 12 regions. During the regular season, 164 teams played a total of 82 team matches a week. Eight players per team competed each week in Singles and four-ball matches concurrently. Forty-two teams advanced to the regional playoff, with 12 teams clinching a spot in the state championship.

Twelve Regional Champions

Twelve teams punched their ticket to the state championship by advancing through the regional playoffs.

  • Central 1: CC at Silver Springs defeated Ocala to earn a spot in the state championship
  • Central 2: CC of Winter Haven took down Sun ‘n Lake 28-20 in the regional finals to advance

Looking to Take Home a Win

The Country Club at Silver Springs is the lone past champion in the field, capturing the Interclub in 2017 at Ocala National Golf Club. The remaining 11 teams will look to take home their first state victory. The Fox Club is the only team in the field to have competed in the 2021 championship, finishing in a tie fourth.

Streamsong to Play Host

For the second-straight year, Streamsong Resort will host the Men’s Interclub Championship. Competitors will play 18 holes on the Blue course, with the final round being played on the Black course.

The Red and Blue courses were first on the property and were a unique collaboration between some of top minds in golf architecture. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw designed the Red, while Tom Doak designed the blue. Designed by Gil Hanse, the Black Course opened in 2017 and operates on nearly 300 acres and is fairly notorious for its scale.
