Four Capture Victories at Indian Spring

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – The weekend at Indian Spring Country Club brought warm and sunny Florida weather along with impressive golf scores. Corbin Scott captured the win in the Boys (16-18) Division, while Nicklaus Downing took the Boys (13-15) Division. Tsamue Wu earned her victory in the Girls (16-18) Division and Angela (Yiting) Wang came out victorious for the Girls (13-15) Division.

Boys (16-18)

It was a tight race in the Boys (16-18) Division during round one. Corbin Scott started his round off strong with an eagle on the first hole of the day and went on to shoot a 1-under 70, putting himself in a tie for the lead with Pedro Pelicioni. Seven players sat within four shots of the leaders going into Sunday.

Scott started his second round strong with two birdies on the first two holes. With only two holes to go, Scott and Pelicioni sat tied at even par. Scott went on to par the last hole to take home the win.

Pelicioni tied for second at 1-over 143 with George Goff and TJ Thompson.

Girls (16-18)

Yvette O’Brien started her first round off strong with an impressive 3-under 32 on her back nine to put her at even par for the day. O’Brien sat on a three shot lead heading into Sunday’s round with others in the hunt not too far behind.

Tsamue Wu made a charge on Sunday with four birdies on her back nine to shoot a 2-under 69. O’Brien posted a 2-under 33 on her back nine to put her in a tie for first with Wu, sending them into a playoff. Both players made par on the first two playoff holes, but Wu clinched her victory on the third playoff hole.

Sara Vitasek finished in solo third, posting two rounds of 74 to shoot a total of 148.

Boys (13-15)

Round one in the Boys (13-15) Division saw some impressive red numbers. Nicklaus Downing posted five birdies on the day to post a 4-under 67 which gave him a two shot lead. Junzhe Wang and Johnathan Weinburg who also posted red numbers and were in good position heading into the final round.

Downing nearly had a blemish free final round, carding four birdies and one bogey for a 3-under 68 to clinch the victory by an impressive seven shots. Wang and Sol Richmond finished in a tie for second place with an even par 142 for the tournament`.

Girls (13-15)

Anglea (Yiting) Wang got off to a hot start on Saturday and took the lead by six shots after posting a 4-under 67. Starting Sunday’s round, Wang bogied her first three holes of the day but that did not stop her. She stayed steady the rest of the day to post a 1-over 72 to take home the FJT victory by five shots.

Sophie Hong posted a 1-under 70 for her final round to move her into solo second for the tournament. She carded three birdies on the day to move her up the leaderboard.
