Four Super-Seniors Outshined at Spring Run

BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. – Two teams came out on top at the Super-Senior Four-Ball Championship on Tuesday at Spring Run Golf Club. Sam Till Jr and Owen Joyner attained their victory in the Championship Division after a two hole play-off, while Pete Andrews and Lenny Barthle were victorious in the 70 & Over Division.

Championship Division

Till and Joyner fired a par on the second play-off hole to win in the Championship Division at 14-under 130. They sat tied with two other teams at 7-under after Monday’s first round.

The duo got the final round started with five birdies on the front nine, shooting a 5-under 31. With only two birdies on the back from Till, they would finish their final nine holes at 2-under to card a 65 to secure their spot into the play-off with Steve Sponder and Joe Shaktman.

Sponder and Shaktman carded rounds of 68 and a tournament-low 10-under 62 to secure their spot in the play-off. The duo would then take second place at 14-under 130, while third place sat one stroke behind them at 13-under 131. 

70 & Over Division

Andrews and Barthle took home the win in the 70 & Over Division, securing the one-shot victory with a 9-under 135 for the championship. The team began the championship with a first-round 68 to sit two shots back of the leaders.

They got off to a strong start in the final round with Barthle beginning the day with back-to-back birdies on the 4th, 5th, and 8th. Andrews added to their lead with another birdie on the 6th, finishing the front side at 4-under. The dynamic duo added two more birdies on their second nine to secure the victory with a final-round of 67.

The team of Robert Cunningham and Ronald Cornette finished the championship in second at 8-under 136.
