January 10, 2024

TAMPA, Fla. – Moe Gallant, of Lakeland, has been elected to serve as the president of the Florida State Golf Association. The election took place on November 17, 2023 at the Association’s Annual Meeting.

Gallant will lead the volunteer Executive Committee in guiding the Association’s professional staff and more than 450 volunteers throughout the state. He has served on the Board since 2017, and was elected to the Executive Committee in 2018. Gallant has spent the last two years serving as the Vice President.

“I am honored to be the president of the FSGA,” Gallant said. “This is a great organization that continuously protects and promotes the great game of golf.”

Born and raised in Maine, Gallant began playing golf at 16 years old. A graduate of the University of Southern Maine, Gallant was a Certified Public Accountant by trade and an Executive Vice President of Audit & Security for Banknorth (now TD) before retiring and becoming a volunteer.

The Lakeland resident first began volunteering with the FSGA in 2011. In over 10 years as a tournament volunteer, Gallant has worked over 500 championships and qualifiers. He began serving as a Tournament Chairman in 2011 and never looked back.

If you have played in any of our events around the state from State Championships to USGA Qualifiers all the way to One-Day Events, there is a large possibility you have seen Gallant there. Not only does his expertise in the rules of golf provide a smooth golf tournament, but his friendliness makes it a memorable experience for all.

“My goal is to support our staff in their efforts to grow the game and provide high-level competition to all players,” Gallant said. “I hope we have a very successful 2024 and hope to see you on the course.”

Steve Albright was elected as Vice President, with Brian Keenan as Secretary/Treasurer. Kim Benedict, Pete Williams and Will Sprague were all elected as Directors-at-Large, with Tony Capano to serve as the Immediate Past President.
