TAMPA, Fla. – FSGA Madness: Amateur Site Edition has come to completion with TPC Sawgrass as the champion. It was TPC Sawgrass and The Bear’s Club in the championship matchup and TPC Sawgrass outlasted The Bear’s Club 59% of the votes to 41% of votes.
TPC Sawgrass hosted the 92nd Amateur Championship in 2009. Blayne Barber captured the win by nine strokes over the field posting an eleven-under-par, 277 over 72 holes. TPC Sawgrass does not lack in beautiful views or challenging holes. Designed by Pete and Alice Dye, the course features Scottish links-style bunkers, sandy waste areas, numerous penalty areas, and tree lined fairways. No two consecutive holes are to be played in the same direction. The famous island green par-3 on the seventeenth hole is notorious for swallowing many golf balls. The seventeenth hole does not show favoritism as even the best players in the world have fallen victim to its challenges.
