September 29, 2024

BOYNTON BEACH, Fla. – The Florida Junior Tour headed down South for one of the premier events on the FJT calender. The FJT Pam McCloskey-Brosnihan (13-18) *Major* is held every year at The Club at Quail Ridge with the support of the Pam McCloskey-Brosnihan Foundation. This year saw 84 of some of the best juniors in the state of Florida teeing it up with hopes of leaving Boynton Beach as Pam's Champions.

Boys (13-18)

With Round one being interupted by a weather delay and ultimately an overnight suspension due to darkness, players would have to wait until Sunday morning to see where they stood on the leaderboard heading into the final round. Pavel Tsar would be one that everyone was chasing with 18 holes to play. Tsar fired an opening round of 6-under par, 66 to take a two-shot lead. The Palm Beach Gardens native made a field leading 8 birdies in round one in route to his 66. Fourteen players would finish round 1 in red numbers with Lawson Ford and Evan Raynor being Tsar's nearest competitors at 4-under par. Ford made six birdies in round one while Raynor's round was highlighted by an eagle on the par 5, 6th hole.

Tsar would pick up right where he left off in round two playing his opening nine holes in 1-under par. The 2025 grad would hold a two-shot lead heading into the back nine. Tsar would quickly put all worries to rest by making three birdies on the back nine en route to a final round of 4-under par, 68 and a 10-under par tournament total. After a 5th place finish in the 2024 Boys' Junior Championship, Tsar would pick up his first FJT win of the year in wire-to-wire fashion. There would be a two-way tie for second place with Lawson Ford and Hugo Stenstrom finishing three shots back at 7-under par.

Girls (13-18)

Twenty-four girls would tee it up at The Club at Quail Ridge in one of the stongest fields of the year. Kayla Bryant would jump out to the early lead after birdieing three out of her first six holes. The Boca Raton native would add two more birdies on the day with one bogey to fire an opening round of 4-under par, 68. Bryant would head into the final round with a two-shot lead and six players within four shots. Sitting in scond place would be Layla Pedrique after an opening round of 2-under par, 70. Pedrique would play consistent golf on day 1 making four birdies and two bogies. Zoe Shamy, Yvette O'Brien and Catherine Andino were the only other under par rounds in the girls division, with the trio sitting in a tie for third at 1-under par.

Kayla Bryant would continue her consistent play in the final round making 8 pars in a row to start the day's play. Bryant would quickly pick up three birdies in a five hole stretch to sit comfortably at the top of the leaderboard. The 2026 grad would fire rounds of 68-71--139 to finish the event at 5-under par and join Tsar as Pam's Champions. Layla Pedrique, Zoe Shamy and Ryleigh Knaub would share a tie for second at 2-under par, three shots back of Bryant. This would be Bryant's second FJT victory in as many starts this month and third overall for the year.
