The Road to the 125th U.S. Open

TAMPA, Fla. – The road to the 125th U.S. Open Championship is officially underway, where Professional and amateur golfers alike tee it up in hopes of making it to this year’s U.S. Open at Oakmont Country Club in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.

Once making it through Local Qualifying, players get the opportunity to play in the Final Qualifier to have a chance at playing in the U.S. Open. Final Qualifying is set to be held at ten golf courses throughout the United States, with additional international sites in Canada, England, and Japan.

The state of Florida will host one of the ten Final Qualifiers, taking place at Emerald Dunes Golf Club in West Palm Beach. Players that made it through local qualifying will join those who have already earned exemptions into the final stage. Once making it through 18 holes at Local Qualifying and 36 holes at Final Qualifying, the top finishers will see their names added to the 156-player field at the 125th U.S. Open.

Innisbrook Resort

Wednesday, April 16th

Wilhelm Ryding (a) of Sweden – Medalist

As the amateur medalist at Innisbrook Resort, Ryding carded a 34-31 68 (-4) to lead the field in qualifying. The USF Bull took his local knowledge to the Copperhead Course and was the lone amateur to make it one step closer to Oakmont.

Tomas Cocha of Argentina

With five birdies and an eagle, the round of 4-under 67 was enough to solidify Cocha's spot in U.S. Open Final Qualifying. The four-time PGA Tour LatinoAmerica Champion looks to take his career to the next level by qualifying for the U.S. Open.

Michael Brennan of Leesburg, VA

Brennan's round started off with a bogey, but that would be the only one he saw for the rest of the round. Playing the rest of the 17 holes at five-under, the PGA Tour Americas member looks to build some more momentum after making both of his cuts on the aforementioned tour.

George Kneiser of Oconomowoc, WI

Kneiser became the lone bogey-free player at Copperhead to move past local qualifying with his round of four-under. The UW-Green Bay alumni played the "Snake Pit" in even par to move on.

Ben Carr of Columbus, GA

Rounding out the group of qualifiers at Innisbrook, Carr survived a 1-for-3 playoff to move one step closer to Oakmont. The Georgia Southern Alumni fired a round of -3 with four birdies and a lone bogey.

Cypress Run Golf Club

Monday, April 21st

Jorge Villar of Mexico – Medalist

With four birdires and an eagle to claim medalist at Cypress Run Golf Club, Villar carded a 35-33 68 (-4) to lead the field in qualifying. The product of Mexico is now one step closer to Oakmont.

Blades Brown of Nashville, TN

With three birdies and a bogey, the round of 2-under 70 was enough to solidify Brown's spot in U.S. Open Final Qualifying. The golfing prodigy turned pro at 17 and has played in 5 events this year on the PGA Tour. He looks to take his career to the next level by qualifying for the U.S. Open.

Austen Truslow of New Smyrna Beach, FL

Truslow's round got off to a rocky start with three bogey's in his first four holes. He would bounce back making six birdies the rest of the day to post at two-under par, 70. 

Taylor Funk of Jacksonville, FL

Funk played a very steady round of golf with four birdies and just two bogeys. His final nine holes of three under par was enough to secure him a spot in the Final Qualifying.

James Piot of Palm Beach Gardens, FL

Winner of the 2021 U.S. Amateur Piot carded four birdies and an eagle during his round to qualify with a two-under par, 70.

Marsh Creek Country Club

Monday, May 5th

Cody Blick of Alamo, CA – Medalist

With eight birdires Blick claimed medalist honors at Marsh Creek Country Club, Blick carded a 30-35 65 (-7) to lead the field in qualifying. The current member of the Korn Ferry Tour is now one step closer to Oakmont.

Alexandre Vandermoten (a) of France

The product of France that played his collegiate golf at Jacksonville University is looking to play in his first Major Championship.

Andrew Mclauchlan (a) of Neptune Beach, FL

Mclauchlan's round consisted of six birdies with three bogey's to post at three-under par, 69. 

Miles Eubanks (a) of Aiken, SC

Eubanks played a very steady round of golf with five birdies and just two bogeys which was enough to secure him a spot in the Final Qualifying.

Mark Tullo of Chile

PGA Member and European Tour player carded five birdies to claim the last spot out of this local qualifier.

 

Pensacola Country Club

Monday, May 5th

Brent Whitehead (a) of Atlanta, GA

The former college player from Wofford had a squeaky clean round that included six birdies and an eagle for a eight under-par, 64, to claim medalist honors.

John Augenstein of Saint Simons Island, GA

Augenstein got off to a hot start making birdies on his first five holes to open with a 31. He would add three more birdies on the back to secure his spot in the Final qualifier.

Walker Holden of Gulf Shores, AL

Finishing in a Tie for third was Holden who put up six birdies and an eagle to post a round of six under-par, 66.

Brendan Valdes (a) of Orlando, FL

The Auburn Tiger player carded eight birdies on his way to a six under-par, 66, giving him the opportunity to play in Final Qualifying.

Sam Murphy of Ruston, LA

Former Louisiana Tech player shot a bogey-free round of six under-par, 66.

Monday, May 5th

Arth Sinha (a) of Melbourne, FL

The current Florida Junior Tour player had a fantastic round that included seven birdies for a six under-par, 66, to claim medalist honors.

Matthew Marigliano (a) of Palm Beach Gardens, FL

The fourteen year-old showed his talents firing a five-under par, 67, and will look to do the same in Final Qualifying.

Tyler Stachkunas of Lake Worth, FL

Finishing in a Tie for third was Stachkunas after an eventful day that included four birdies and an eagle to push him through.

Michael Gligic of Canada

The PGA Tour and Korn Ferry player played a very steady round to finish Tie for third and get him into another Final Qualifier.

Carson Klawonn of West Palm Beach, FL

After a solid round of bogey free four under-par, 68, Klawonn will be looking to break through into the U.S. Open.

Tuesday, May 6th

Palmer Haynes (a) of Orlando, FL

The former FJT Tour Champion & Junior Match Play Champion had seven birdies and an eagle en route to an eight-under 64 that earned him medalist honors. 

Joey Lussier of Herndon, VA

Eight birdies helped the PGA Professional at LPGA International in Daytona Beach advance to Final Qualifying.

Jacob Huizinga of Orlando, FL

The three-time FSGA champion, including the 99th State Amateur Championship at Fiddlesticks Country Club, shot a five-under 67 to qualify. 

Andrew Swanson (a) of Bluffton, South Carolina

A top 250 amateur player in the world finished four-under on his final nine holes to propel himself into a Final Qualifying spot.

Nino Palmquist (a) of Sweden

The Junior at the University of South Florida and member of the Swedish National Team advanced in a three-for-one playoff for the final qualifying spot.

Wednesday, May 7th

Samuel Anderson of Stoughton, WI

The Korn Ferry player rolled in seven birdies in his five-under 67 that earned him medalist honors. 

Tyler Gulliksen (a) of Flagler Beach, FL

The assistant golf coach at UNF and six-time FSGA team state champion with fellow qualifier, Ty Capps, shot a four-under 68 to advance to Final Qualifying.

Ty Capps (a) of Palm Coast, FL

The two-time state Mid-Amateur Championship runner-up finished one shot back of his FSGA teammate to advance into Final Qualifying. 

Moses Compaan of Jacksonville, FL

A former two-time FJT winner and current Minor League Golf Professional fired a three-under 69 to earn himself a spot in Final Qualifying.

Rowan Caron of Netherlands

The former Korn Ferry and PGA Tour Latinoamerica player earned the final qualifying spot from Plantation Bay.

Thursday, May 8th

Mason Howell (a) of Thomasville, GA

The top-10 AJGA-ranked player and Georgia commit fired a six-under 30 on his first nine holes to earn co-medalist honors.

Jake Hall of Knoxville, TN

A bogey-free 64 from the 108th Tennessee State Amateur Champion helped him achieve co-medalist honors to advance to Final Qualifying. 

Joshua Bai (a) of New Zealand

A top 170-ranked amateur in the world and runner-up in the 2023 U.S. Junior Amateur Championship shot six-under 65 to advance. 

Luke Poulter (a) of Orlando, FL

Ranked as a top 115 amateur in the world and recent winner of a collegiate event playing for the University of Florida, Poulter had six birdies at Hawkstone en route to qualifying.

Luke Schniederjans of Alpharetta, GA

The 2020 Georgia State Amateur Champion and three-time collegiate champion at Georgia Tech advanced to Final Qualifying in a three-for-one playoff.

Brandon Hoelzer of Fremont, OH

The Korn Ferry player and 2018 Ohio State Amateur Champion went five-under on his first nine holes, leading him to co-medalist honors. 

David Hearn of Canada

A PGA Tour player with wins on the Canadian and Nationwide Tours went bogey-free in his five-under 67 to earn co-medalist honors. 

Jonah Leach (a) of Windermere, FL

An impressive front nine helped Leach, a former top-10 finisher in the FSGA State Amateur Championship, earn a spot in Final Qualifying.

Kristian Caparros (a) of Southwest Ranches, FL

The former PGA Latinoamerica tour player fired a three-under 69 to qualify from Crown Colony. 

Nick Latimer of Cleveland, OH

A Minor League Golf tour professional shot a three-under 69 to advance after a four-for-three playoff.

Hans Risvaer (a) of Miami, FL

A six-birdie performance helped the former two-time FJT winner earn Medalist honors and advance to Final Qualifying. 

Blake Dyer of Saint Petersburg, FL

The former Korn Ferry player shot a four-under 68 to earn a spot in Final Qualifying. 

Tyler Wilkes of Tampa, FL

The two-time FSGA Boys' Junior Champion and 2018 FSGA Boys Junior Player of the Year shot a four-under 68 to advance. 

Stephen Sowards of Bradenton, FL

Five birdies helped propel Sowards into a spot at Final Qualifying. 

Parker Severs (a) of Lakewood Ranch, FL

A six-time FJT winner and University of Florida commit advanced in a six-for-one playoff after shooting two-under 70.

Christo Greyling of Tequesta, FL

A former #1 junior player in the world earned himself Medalist honors after shooting a five-under 67. 

Jude Kim (a) of Plantation, FL

Kim played in the 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship and is now advancing to Final Qualifying of the U.S. Open after a four-under 68.

Nick Beddow of Palm Beach Gardens, FL

The Head Golf Professional at Apogee Golf Club fired five birdies in his four-under 68 to advance to Final Qualifying. 

Sohan Patel (a) of Weston, FL

Patel qualified for match play at last year's U.S. Amateur Championship as one of the youngest players in the field. Now ranked as a top-25 AJGA player, Patel advances to Final Qualifying.

Elijah Zamarron (a) of Sunrise, FL

A two-time FJT winner and current Georgia Southern Eagle, advanced in a two-for-one playoff after shooting two-under 70.
