Porvasnik & Johnson Poised for Second Titles

August 2, 2025

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – The second round delivered plenty of movement on the leaderboard in the Open Division, but Jessica Porvasnik held firm, maintaining the lead heading into the final round. In the Senior Division, Christa Johnson only widened the gap, extending her commanding advantage as she eyes back-to-back titles tomorrow.

Open Division

Defending champion Lauren Clark came out hot on The Fazio Course, carding four birdies in her first five holes to briefly snag the lead. But Jessica Porvasnik held steady, continuing her sharp play to reclaim a two-shot edge by the turn.

Amateur Jordan Fischer also made an early move, rattling off five birdies in her first eight holes to climb the leaderboard. As the field made the turn, positions continued to shift, but Porvasnik remained in control.

Fischer (a) posted the low round of the day with a 6-under 66, but it wasn’t enough to catch Porvasnik, who closed the day at 8-under overall.

As it stands heading into the final round, three past champions top the leaderboard: Porvasnik leads, followed by Fischer (a), with Clark in third.

After her impressive round, Fischer said, “Tomorrow I’m going to take it shot by shot, not worry about what anyone else is doing, and just do my own thing. I’ve played this tournament the past two years, and I’m really excited for the final round.”

Senior Division

Christa Johnson has been in full command since she arrived. The defending champion opened with a scorching 9-under 63 and backed it up with a 4-under 68 in round two, highlighted by six total birdies today. She heads into the final round with a dominant seven-shot lead over her closest challenger, Leta Lindley.

“I’m playing really freely,” Johnson said. “It’s hot out, but I think I’ve got a solid strategy, staying present and not getting caught up in how tough this course is. The Champion Course is a whole different challenge than The Fazio. It really makes you think—where you want to be off the tee, where you want your ball on the green.”

Lindley sits solo second at 6-under overall after carding another steady 69. Occupying solo third place is Heather Young at 3-under with a second round 70 (-2).
