Porvasnik Claims Second Title, Johnson Survives Late Surge to Repeat

August 3, 2025

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – One thing about golf, it always finds a way to test you. And today, that was on full display as two champions emerged from the battle. Jessica Porvasnik held steady for a wire-to-wire win at the 2025 Florida Women’s Open, taking home the title and a $10,000 winner’s check. In the Senior Division, Christa Johnson clawed her way to victory to successfully defend her title, earning $5,500 in the process.

Open Division

Jessica Porvasnik set the pace early and never let up. After carding back-to-back 4-under 68s in the opening rounds, she entered the final day with the lead, and a growing target on her back.

Taylor Collins wasted no time applying pressure, storming out to a hot start and reaching 6-under through 13 holes to tie the lead. But golf’s challenges came calling. A misstep on the 15th and a double-bogey on the 17th derailed her charge. At the same time, Jordan Fischer (a) and Lauren Clark remained within striking distance, keeping the leaderboard tight.

But Porvasnik stayed composed through it all. Navigating the Bear Trap with a string of steady pars, she did exactly what she needed to secure her second Florida Women’s Open victory, her first coming back in 2019. “It’s always fun. The FSGA always puts on such wonderful events and it’s nice to come back out and test my game before I go back out on the LPGA.”

Defending champion Lauren Clark finished in second place at 4-under total after rounds of 71-69-72--212. Jordan Fischer not only rounded out the top three, but also earned Low Amateur Honors after rounds of 72-66-75--213.

Senior Division

The Senior Division saved its best drama for last, turning a presumed victory into a back-nine battle. Christa Johnson teed off with a commanding seven-shot lead, seemingly in position to cruise to victory. But Lisa Lindley had other plans.

Lindley came out on fire, opening with three straight birdies and adding two more on the 6th and 8th holes. By the turn, the reigning U.S. Senior Women’s Open champion had nearly erased the entire deficit, sitting just one shot behind Johnson.

One hole later, it was all square. Lindley completed the stunning comeback to tie Johnson at 10-under, setting the stage for a thrilling back-nine duel.

But Johnson, riding momentum from two strong opening rounds, stayed composed. Even after stumbling through the Bear Trap with dropped shots on 15 and 16, she steadied the ship just enough to hold off Lindley and secure back-to-back Senior Division titles. Johnson finished with rounds of 63-68-74--205 to finish at 11-under total.

“It really feels very special,” Johnson said. “I came out here and surprised myself, especially in that first round. I shot really low and even birdied the tough holes. Today was more difficult, but I made some great saving putts and hung in there really well.”

Lindley finished solo second after three under-par rounds of 69-69-68--206. Rounding out the top three was Heather Young at 2-under par. Earning Low Amateur honors was Dawn Woodard, who posted rounds of 72-73-71--213.
