TAMPA, Fla. – The Women’s Florida Cup returns October 26-27, 2025 at the storied Mountain Lake Club in Lake Wales. This biennial showdown brings together 28 of the state’s best women and senior women golfers, and net players, each earning their place through stellar play over the past two seasons. Players qualify through the FSGA Player of the Year points lists, Net Championships, and committee selections, ensuring both seasoned champions and rising talent make the teams.
The Cup follows a Ryder Cup format: four-ball and foursomes on the first day, capped by singles matches on the final day. The first team to 14.5 points will hoist the Cup, or a 14-14 tie results in the defending champions retaining the Cup for an additional two years.
History was made in 2023 when the North team finally broke through, capturing its first Women’s Florida Cup title with a 20-12 victory after more than a decade of southern Florida dominance.
With the rosters stacked with decorated players, the 2025 matches promise an exciting two days of competition. And without further ado, we’re excited to announce the 2025 Captains of this year’s Women’s Florida Cup.
North Team Captains
Madyson Gold
Madyson Gold, a longtime FSGA competitor turned staff member, will make her debut as a Women’s Florida Cup Captain in 2025, an especially notable honor as it also marks her first appearance in the event.
Gold has enjoyed a standout 2025 season, beginning with a victory at the Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship and followed by capturing the Women’s Shoot-Out title alongside partner Kim Benedict. Her combination of competitive success and deep connection to the FSGA makes her a strong addition to the Florida Cup leadership.
With her first Florida Cup appearance approaching, Gold stated, “I'm beyond honored to represent the North team for my first Florida Cup appearance and bring the cup back to where it belongs.”
Therese Quinn
Therese Quinn is no stranger to the honor of being a Women’s Florida Cup participant. The 2025 event marks her sixth Florida Cup appearance, and impressively, she was honored as captain when the North Team brought home the cup for the very first time in 2023. Beyond her Florida Cup success, Quinn has also tested her game on the national stage, having competed in the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship in 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2019, 2018, and 2017 and the U.S. Senior Women’s Open in 2023, 2022, and 2018.
Quinn stated, "It is an honor to serve on the North Team, leading our super competitive ladies to victory!" When asked what she's looking forward to the most: "Both teams of wonderful Florida players coming together for the sport at a world class venue to share good times, extraordinary golf and cooperative competition."
South Team Captains
Ailsa Clark
Another standout leader rising quickly to captaincy is Ailsa Clark, who earned this honor in just her first Women’s Florida Cup appearance. The Naples native is set to compete in her second USGA Women’s Mid-Amateur this October. Beyond her own playing career, Clark serves as head coach of the Aubrey Rogers High School girls’ golf team, making her no stranger to rallying a team.
Off the course, she works as a golf fitness trainer at Par 4 Fitness in Bonita Springs. With her coaching background and proven playing ability, Clark is poised to deliver the spark the South Team needs.
When asked what she’s most excited about, Clark stated, "Being a member of the Florida Cup team has been a goal of mine for the last two years. Yet, being able to lead alongside someone like MJ who has been such a great player, mentor and friend on and off the golf course makes it all the better. I look forward to new friends, great golf, and taking the cup back for the South!"
Mary Jane Hiestand
Mary Jane Hiestand hardly needs an introduction– a reflection of just how impactful her golf career has been. Her achievements speak for themselves: FSGA Hall of Fame Inductee (2023), seven-time FSGA Senior Player of the Year, and now making her third appearance as Women’s Florida Cup Captain, marking her seventh Florida Cup overall.
Beyond state competition, Hiestand has competed in more than 50 USGA Championships all while securing over 11 FSGA titles, cementing her legacy in the game.
Hiestand stated, “I’m looking forward to being the South Team Captain once again, pairing up with Ailsa Clark, and leading our wonderful team on to another victory! The Florida Cup is a unique opportunity for us to share our love for this game with our teammates and opponents in a friendly yet competitive match! GO SOUTH TEAM!”
