Sherwin Caps Storybook 2025 with FSGA Victory

October 12, 2025

LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. – He welcomed his second child, made a hole-in-one in front of Tiger Woods, and captured his second FSGA Championship title. It’s safe to say Jake Sherwin is having quite the year. Sherwin capped off his stellar 2025 with a bogey-free 7-under 65 at Lakewood National's Piper Course. Impressively, he played his final 48 holes at par or better, without a single bogey since the sixth hole of the opening round.

In the opening round, Logan Blondell set the pace with a 4-under 68. A number of contenders followed closely at 3-under, including Jake Sherwin, Shankar Natarajan, and Ty Capps. Sherwin finished strong, rolling in four birdies over his final five holes to earn that share of second place by day’s end.

But as the next morning fell and the second round got underway, Sherwin didn’t cool off. He’d go on to have a bogey-free second round, complimented by four birdies to finish with a 4-under, 68, which would launch him into first place at 7-under overall in the morning wave.

In the afternoon wave, Capps made a push to chase him down but stumbled with back-to-back bogeys on his 13th and 14th holes, ultimately falling into a tie for second with Matthew Paradis. Paradis’ round featured both an eagle and a double bogey, but he matched his opening 70 to join Capps at second heading into the final day. By day’s end, Jake Sherwin remained atop the leaderboard as the 36-hole leader, with no one from the afternoon field able to match his 7-under total.

The final round brought the chilliest morning Florida’s seen all year, with temperatures dipping into the low 60s, but Jake Sherwin didn’t flinch. He came out hot instead, rolling in birdies on his first and third holes to stretch his overnight lead.

From there, it was all Sherwin. By the turn, he’d reached double digits under par and built a six-shot cushion over the field- he was on cruise control. He added four more birdies coming in, coasting to an impressive finish.

Joseph Trim made a late charge with a back nine that included four birdies and an eagle, matching Sherwin’s closing 7-under 65. But Sherwin never let up, keeping his lead locked down from start to finish.

The victory marks Sherwin’s first since the 2024 Mid-Amateur Championship at La Gorce Country Club. Trim took solo second at 70-71-65--206, while Ty Capps rounded out the top three at 69-71-71--211.
