Men's Net Championship

Grand Cypress Golf Club - Orlando

September 30 - October 1

Three Hoist Men's Net Trophies

For the fifth consecutive year Grand Cypress Golf Club was in great condition for the Men’s Net Championship competitors. Despite the rainy weather to start both rounds, the players posted impressive scores in Orlando! The Under 50 division saw Brian Polick, of Valrico, go wire-to-wire to win his first FSGA Championship. Polick posted a round one four under-par 68 to take the early lead over Justin Thomas who carded a two under-par 70. Thomas dropped to a third place finish after a round two 79 while Polick played steady and carded a 73 for a three under-par total 141. Polick earned his first victory by six strokes over Adam Rosenberger, of Rockledge. Rosenberger posted rounds of 72-75 for a 147 second place finish.

The 50-64 division experienced a come from behind win from Todd Gilbert, of Tampa. Gilbert, past 2014 Men’s Net Champion, sat six behind Gregg Sargent who posted a round one four-under par 67. Gilbert played to the low round of the day on Sunday to earn his second FSGA Championship victory! Gilbert posted a round two 66 (-6) to claim first place by five strokes. Tony Kent finished in second place with rounds of 68-76—144. Sargent fell to 13th place after a second round 90 while Thomas Hart, of Port Saint Lucie, rounded out the top three with rounds of 76-70—146.

Brian Carrroll, of Daytona Beach, achieved a wire-to-wire, consistent win with two rounds of 68. A winner of the 2014 Men’s Net Championship, Carroll earned his second win by six strokes with a 136 (-8). Jacksonville resident and 2015 Men’s Net Champion, Bruce Moskovciak, finished in second place after rounds of 70-72—142. Third place went to David Norka who posted an even par total, 71-73—144.

~ New Course & North/South ~

The New Course is Jack Nicklaus’ tribute and homage to the famed Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland. This Scottish links masterpiece is complete with double greens, stone bridges and walls, gorse mounds, burns and pot bunkers as deep as 12 feet. The North-South combination, marked by sharply ledged fairways, tall shaggy mounds and plateau greens perched above water or sand, is a demanding, target-style test.
