Griffith and Rosenbaum Team Crowned Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South Champions

The South Florida team of Bill Griffith and Marc Rosenbaum captured the Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South Championship. Miromar Lakes Beach and Golf Club hosted the South Championship on May 29-30.

 In the South Championship, Bill Griffith, of Miami Shores, and Marc Rosenbaum, from Hollywood, claimed the top spot after shooting 68-63—131. Last year in the South Championship, they tied for fourth place. Tom Fiocchi, of Palm Beach Gardens, and Michael Nealy, from Boca Raton, beat their performance last year as they fired a pair of 66’s to place second in this year’s Championship. Last year, Fiocchi and Nealy placed third in the South Championship.

The Mid-Amateur Four-Ball South Championship featured 38 teams. Both North and South sites are 36 holes of four-ball stroke play. In four-ball stroke play, two competitors play as partners, each playing his own ball. The lower score of the partners is the score for the hole. Amelia Island Plantation will host the 2005 Mid-Am Four-Ball North while the South will be played at Inverrary Country Club in Lauderhill.

Round 1 Story

Miromar Lakes features the sensational Arthur Hills Signature Championship Florida Golf Course. This par 72 golf course with extensive berming creates a feeling of privacy for the golfer. There are generous landing areas and many features that make this Florida golf course both inviting and challenging for players of all skill levels.

ELIGIBILITY

Must be age 25 or older as of May 29, 2004. Both entrants must also be members of the FSGA.

ENTRY FEE

$330 per team. ($320 for online entry.) Includes two competitive rounds, cart fees at competitive rounds and prizes.

CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT

36 holes four-ball stroke play.

FLIGHTS

After 18 holes. Number of flights determined after round one.

CARTS

Players are responsible for practice round cart fees.

DEFENDING CHAMPIONS

Brothers Juan and Julio Nutt won the South at Doral Golf Resort and Spa after shooting 69-63--132 to win by 3 strokes.
